I’m mostly interested in the price of steak frites around town.
Martine’s Wine Bar, at the old Woodlot / Harry’s site, is charging $44 CAD, as of June 2024.

H/t @rstuart for the Toronto Life article.
Maison Selby and Cluny both have a flat iron cut with frites on their menus for $39.

At Sorrel, on Yonge St., almost diagonally across the street from the major LCBO near Summerhill station, there’s a $38 hanger steak, with first-rate frites, and mushrooms, that’s very, very satisfying. Good value, given the price of meat nowadays. I order it most every time I drop in - not often, I’ll admit - hungering for a hit of protein. A lively, if noisy spot, invariably busy, with good service.

$42 Steak Frites at Parquet on Harbord.
Parquet does offer short rib as an option in its $50 Prix Fixe.
The bavette and frites at Martine’s Wine Bar, which were $44 in June 2024, were $52 on Sept 28, 2024.
Steak frites at Maison T is $34 at the moment.

Anyone recommend a place for a Mitraillette?

Mitraillette
I don’t think Toronto has had a Belgian restaurant since Café Brussels closed around 25 years ago.
No idea where to find one in Canada.
There is one on the menu at Frite Alors in Montreal, but it’s made with lamb merguez rather than a beef patty.
There’s a version of Mitraillette made with hangar steak (hence the question in the steak frites thread)

In Belgium, a “machine gun” is a sausage and french-fry sandwich, and even though it may not be refined, it encompasses some of the country's biggest food obsessions.
Est. reading time: 3 minutes
This is the new thing I learned today.
Add this to your bucket of new things learned as well.
The aforementioned Mitraillette Baguette

J’s on College had unlimited frites mentioned on its sandwich board this week. I don’t know if the frites have always been unlimited at J’s.
