Spring 2025 (Apr-Jun) Cuisine of the Quarter - NOMINATIONS

@biondanonima I don’t know what the thought is on repeating past cuisines, but as most folks here now were not when some interesting / fun to explore together cuisines had their turn, perhaps we could have a go at them again?

It’s not the same to add to old threads on a standalone basis vs. cooking together from the same thread in a quarter.

In that vein, I’ll nominate REVISIT OF MALAYSIAN.

Wonderful. Thus my nominations, as I initially had planned to nominate Sicilian, but in checking the master list wasn’t sure if it was legit.

Looks like we’re all on the same page, then.

If we were going to revisit a cuisine, I think revisiting the same thread, reinvigorating the same Malaysian thread in this case, by all of us adding to the old thread already in existence over the quarter, would make sense.

That way it would incorporate what has already been added to the HO Malaysian COTM canon. The thread would be revived with new recipes people have tried or want to try in 2025, while maintaining continuity and continuing to be a resource.

I assume that, whichever cuisine is voted on for the upcoming quarter, contributions to the thread can be made indefinitely — just like the previous COTQ threads, correct, @biondanonima? How about the DOTQ? Same?

Turns out April is Filipino Food Month, and I;m surprised it hasn’t had a turn here yet, so I will nominate

FILIPINO

Now off to see if there are any events being organized near me.

Yes, if there is enough interest in revisiting a cuisine we’ve covered before, we can certainly do that, but I would continue to use the old thread (with an updated title) so that all the info/resources stay in the same place.

Yes, for both COTQ and DOTQ, the threads stay open for contributions forever.

Agreed. That’s what we discussed for Cookbook of the Month too.

Yes, and yet it’s very different to be cooking / participating together in a thread concomitantly, vs adding to it solo 7 years later.

Agreed, which is why I said we can revisit a cuisine or dish if there’s enough interest. The discussion (or lack thereof) on the nomination thread will determine whether such cuisines are promoted to the voting thread.
