Sometimes these lists are awesome - world's best sandwiches

I find that the straight meat sandwiches are almost always overstuffed and today’s commercial bread, even the rye, squishes down to nothing. With the reuben, there is plenty of tasty meat but its not a huge wad and the other components and the grilled bread make it a more satisfying meal. Looking forward to having one on the way across Pennsylvania later this week - a great place to get a Reuben.

Where?

we usually drive across 70-76 so places like Out of the Fire (Donegal), Summit Diner (Somerset) , Generations Resto and Pub (Wheeling WV), or northern route maybe Old Forge Brewing in Danville. We usually look for a brewpub with good burgers to hold us til dinnertime , but if they have a reuben, which many places in the state do, thats the way I usually tend. Last week we were running late heading west and stopped for lunch at CKW IRONSPIRE TAPHOUSE in ADAMSTOWN, PA where my husband’s burger - in a pressed grilled bun - was a bitsskimpy and weird, but my Hot Pastrami panini was fine. Lately we’ ve stopped at the newly refurbished Whiskey River Pub in Bedford 3 times. - they have a great burger, I havent gone for either the smoked brisket or reuben yet. Good tasty things happening there and a friendly host. Whats with the places who make a big deal about only cooking their burgers well done, though? Is that a legal thing in PA? We have been running into it more and more.

If you’re ever hungry while driving near Morgantown, WV, I liked the Iron Horse Tavern.

A good fried bologna sandwich is both wonderful and really hard to find.
I’ve never seen one here on the west coast. We’re just not really bologna territory out here.

Newfies love their fried bologna and eat it with eggs for brekkie

The fried bologna is sometimes calls Newfie Steak. Most Newfie Fried Bologna sandwiches are topped with cheese or Cheese Whiz, and mustard. Mayo is also common.

Sometimes a touton, a type of pancake, is used instead of bread.

a fancy variation with hard boiled egg and a croissant
