I’ve noticed a lot of foods taste differently too but I’m always wondering if it’s my aging taste buds. They definitely have lost some sensitivity . I find I need more salt now to enjoy my food.
I used to eat one every year, too! The last one I tried, years back, was disgusting to me. so I stopped.

Last time I tried a filet o fish, I had to take several bites before I got to the fish patty inside the bun!
The fries, I think there was an issue with dropping the beef tallow from the frying oil.

Here’s a vote for a factory-food product that seems to taste exactly as it did when I was a kid, 50+ years ago: Fritos. Love 'em.
