Sorry but I’m not buying the beautiful alternative for $229 nor am I going to hunt down a home brewing store for beverage quality CO2 to refill retrofitted canisters. And for sure I have no space or interest in an industrial sized vat of CO2 with which to recharge my device of choice. But good on those who do!
Periodically I buy a bottle of Gerolsteiner or Topo Chico for a “treat” but my daily consumption of about a liter of carbonated water comes from my Soda Stream (thrift store, brand new, $5 about 10 years ago). A cartridge of CO2 lasts several months and can easily be picked up at my local, walking distance ACE hardware. I do the “extra farts” to carbonate excessively and find that the carbonation lasts just fine considering the rate of turnover. Also, the environment.
the flavored versions like Essenza are a thousand times more carbonated than their plain ol’ mineral water, which is what the comparison was that was being made.
