[San Francisco, Sunset] Dumpling Specalist 嵐翔小館- Decent and really cheap

We stopped by Dumpling Specialist for dinner. They are on Taraval between 21st and 22nd. We went just before their closing and they closed really early. So check the hours. We got a variety of food, half Shanghainese and half Sichuanese. We liked the Shanghainese dishes better. They aren’t serving the best Shanghainese food in town, but I don’t think you can find better QPR than Dumpling Specialist in the city.

Pan fried pork bun $6.25. We quite liked the relatively small size and nice crispiness at the bottom.

XLB $6.25- Each order had 5. They were quite decent. I liked the meat filling better than the skin, which is slightly on the soft side.

Five spice beef stew noodle soup $9.25. Decent. but Yuanbao Jiaozi’s version is better.

Dan dan noodle $8.5- these were probably a bit soupy and sweet. Stick to the Shanghainese specialties and go to the Sichuan specialists for this dish.

Wonton in chili oil $6.25- no picture. Pretty decent.

I always go to Milktopia next door for their soft serve.

I guess I should pop in sometime.

Thanks for the report.

Next time I will make sure that I stop by Milktopia to get their soft serve after a meal.

Try one before as well.

Stuff is addictingly good.

Nice tip! I’m always looking for good soft serve, but as a parent to a teenager I have a serious aversion to boba/milk tea shops so would not have ventured in there had I not known they had soft serve.

A plate of Xlb or Sjb is cheaper than some of the soft serves next door! that’s how cheap their snack size plates are. Five Sjb is probably sufficient for most already as their main meal.
