A whole pie would be too big for me too. Maybe someone else has tried and can share if it is a better pizza?
We had tried and liked the Italian sandwiches at King Bolzano, a place that opened up a few blocks from our house. Tonight we decided to finally try their pizza. Overall OK. The crust is neither poor nor particularly flavourful. The toppings are pretty standard. At least the prices match the product. This is inexpensive pizza.
The panzerotto is only $7.50 and is gigantic. The crust is not particularly oily, but it is also not crisped the way you would expect a panzerotto. You can add your choice of ingredients to the inside. We picked sausage, thinking we would get a fairly standard Italian sausage. Instead we got little slices of a dried sausage. Interesting.
For a pizza, we got a standard combo of deluxe toppings: green peppers, onions, pepperoni, mushrooms, and bacon. The tomato sauce had nice flavour (it was also present on the sandwiches we had previously).
So, I think you can skip on the pizza here, but the sandwiches are still quite good. Not as good as California, Mustachio’s, or San Francesco, but good as in if you’re in the neighbourhood and want a tasty lunch, it’s a decent option.
Uai Pizza is a Brazilian pizza spot in Toronto.
I have not tried it yet
This is the pepperoni slice from Pasta Forever on Dundas W near Brock. $6 CAD . I like the dough and the pepperoni. There’s more sauce than I like. It is already sliced, to reheat at home.
Ordered Pide from Sibel for a smaller gathering. Mix pide is serviceable plain cheese is meh. Their dough quality is sub par imo. Not in pic is the grilled chicken breast which was a sizeable portion. Baba ganough and hummus not in pic as well are good.
I was trying to figure out the calories in a big slice, the type one buys by the slice for somewhere between $5 and $10 depending on how fancy the pizzeria is.
Chains have to post this nutritional information. I haven’t found any indie pizzerias that have posted the information. Interestingly, I could only find nutritional info for the big walk in slices at Pizza Pizza and Pizza Nova. The other chains I checked online had nutritional info for slices for small, medium or large pizzas with various toppings, but not for the walk in big slices that often much bigger than a slice from a whole pizza that one would order.
The big slices of pepperoni pizza at Pizza Pizza and at Pizza Nova are around 660 calories each.
I would think a big walk in slice from Badiali’s , Mac’s or Acute might have less carb but more cheese, but have roughly 660 calories as well.
I had a big slice of pepperoni pizza from Bitondo’s yesterday, and I’m guessing that was also around 660 calories. Maybe I’ll bring a scale one of these days to compare.
The pepperoni on the Bitondo’s slice were a little less cooked than usual. The dough wasn’t undercooked, though. Less greasy with less cheese than it has had other times. It costs a little less than $6 a slice these days.

The walk- in, big slices at Danforth Pizza House are running $6 each.
What are you going to weigh? The slice, or yourself after eating the slice?
Both. lol.
I weigh less today. Must have been chasing that big Bitondo’s slice with an arugula salad. LOL.
Instead of carrying a scale around with you, why not ask the pizzaiolo how many calories in a slice.
Now I’m craving pizza…
I don’t think they will know.
I have a really awesome new scale from IQ Living.
totally awesome dude
Fourth Man in the Fire’s Pepperoni and Mushroom. I like it a lot. Much crispier crust, but it still had a good chewy texture. It’s a bit saltier than Mac’s or Acute.
I will be back.
The restaurant was about 2/3 full at 8 pm on a Sunday night.
Harry and Heels donuts.
I almost ordered the Pickle Pie at Beast tonight
Got around to trying 8Mile Detroit Style Pizza, our fifth sampling of this permutation of pizza. Overall, less creative in the toppings department (compared to Descendant or Afro’s), but the crust was lighter and less oil-laden. The tomato sauce veered slightly sweeter, but not too sweet. The other plus was the option of ordering half and half, so we could try 4 topping combos on 2 pizzas:
Hawaiian Pie [right]: 8Mile cheese blend, pineapple, ham, bacon, tomato sauce, sesame seeds - the smokey bacon was a nice extra touch. The A&P [left]: 8Mile cheese blend, tomato sauce, topped with prosciutto, marinated cherry tomatoes, fresh arugula parmesan, honey - lovely toppings, which unfortunately got a little cooked in the heat of the box on the way home.
Spicy P [right]: 8Mile cheese blend, Ezzo pepperoni, mushrooms, jalapeños, tomato sauce, Scotch bonnet aioli drizzle, and chives - some real kick and lots of fun overall. Veggie Supreme [left]: 8Mile cheese blend, green peppers, mushrooms, olives, cherry tomatoes, jalapeños tomato sauce, parmesan, and dried herbs.
Have been meaning to try 8 mile pizza as walk by it often thanks for sharing. Just haven’t enjoyed that style of pizza. Maybe when having guests.
Detroit-style crust tends to tear the top of my mouth.
I like what Detroit Pizza tastes like and I like the crispiness and chew of the crust, but I don’t like having a sore upper palate afterwards.
Is there any place in Toronto serving something like an old fashioned pan pizza, in a pizzeria, like the Pizza Hut pan pizzas of the 80s and 90s?
What are everyone’s top 3 pizzas, any style, in Toronto lately?
I have been focused more on slices lately, when I’m on my own.
I like Acute and Badiali’s.
My most recent pizza was the San Giacomo at Spaccio (owned by Terroni).
It’s the second Terroni pizza I’ve had this year. Quite good. My friend is a fan so we have been splitting a pizza, a pasta, and a salad when we meet at Spaccio or Terroni.
Spaccio’s San Giacomo pizza with mushroom and soppressata.
Spaccio on Sackville also has rectangular slices to go, at their store.
8Mile’s crust was softer than many other Detroit-style places, so it might be kinder to your mouth.
What did you think of Levant I didn’t enjoy them at all. They seemed to have the social media campaign down right as I can’t seem to enjoy much there (poor service on both pickup and dine in as well)
I think I liked the novelty of my first visit in Sept 2022 - I called it awesome back then.
I didn’t like my second visit. I haven’t been back in 2 years or so.
Mac’s is quite close to Levant, geographically. Different style and theme, of course. They have slices and whole pies. The Lemonhead is popular. I haven’t tried the Lemonhead yet.
The pepperoni, mushroom and green pepper was quite good. It’s more of a North American thinner crust pizza than an Italian thinner crust pizza.
Good to know. Thank you.
