Recommended Pakistani/Indian/Desi food spots in Toronto GTA

Debu Saha returns and shows why he’s always ahead of the curve. I love it.
If I still lived downtown, I know where I’d be going in a hurry.

" Oh Bombay " , just a minute or two drive from my Richmond Hill home offers some pretty delicious Indian nosh.
Their Lamb Bhuna Gosht actually tasted better than similar versions I had recently in some Michelin guide restaurants in London, UK!!

It’s different.

It can be quite good, especially if you like eggs.

You have to tell us if you go. I’ve been a fan since his Biryani House days. That was my introduction to fine Indian dining. It really set the standard for the rest of my life.

I hear ya. I recall his biryani place as tried it a few times. I enjoyed the fish curry at spice Indian bistro in addition we had a dinner for my Canadian Mom’s landmark birthday and booked the entire place. Most of the guests were from the region or had reference for that cuisine. Everyone enjoyed the food. I will visit this new spot soon as well

Kerala Nook, locations at 1110 Dupont and at 1570 Midland

I think the Dupont location may be take-out only.

Most Keralan restaurants in Toronto are located in Scarborough these days.

Keralan Restaurant in Scarborough that has Karali fried chicken. Haven’t been yet.

I wish Maroli hadn’t closed. I rarely go east of Yonge, let alone all the way to Scarborough. :joy:

Finally went today ( last week’s trip was thwarted by the storm). Met a friend there for lunch: I had the chicken roll, and she got the Chicken Keema Kaleji (Dhaba Style).
I loved the chicken roll and cilantro chutney with it. The serving was enormous: will have the other half for lunch today! And only $11. She was less enamoured with her dish, but that’s because it had chicken liver in it ( she is not a fan). She just ate everything else. I will definitely be going back…

That roll looks really substantial!

Sorry about your friend’s meal – “kaleji” means liver, so I was actually kind of excited when I read the description bec I love chicken liver and I love kheema!

she was able to pick the liver out! It was substantial… other half made great lunch the next day!

I tried Chowpatty Culture in the Beach. I liked it. The restaurant is set up like a fast food restaurant. There are a few tables on the sidewalk as part of CaféTO. Chowpatty Culture is halal.

It was my first time to order a kathi roll.

I ordered the chicken tikka kathi roll which comes with a few fries ($13.99), and an iced masala chai.

Chowpatty Culture has also started serving Indian breakfasts this month.

Tried the cottage cheese by delivery. Chicken Tikka a smaller portion (though under appetizers so understandable) was good.
Butter chicken hmmm again a sweet version with the spices held away back. Need to find a new source I think as Bhoj special version has been a write off after starting as great for years
Garlic naan and roti are serviceable

I found the butter chicken at the place I went in Bloordale, Mumbaikar, was not the sweet version. Maybe you would like it.

I had been craving the sweet type. I still haven’t gotten around to trying Dil Se on Roncy, which serves the sweet type.
