Fair enough. It’s definitely on the posh side. How about baccalà for the well behaved yob?

My recollection, from when I used to play on eGullet, was that Needoo was always better recommended by locals than Tayyabs. Never been though - I’m not usually looking for South Asian when I visit the capital (although we have done a couple of the Michelin starred places years back). In that neck of the woods, there would also be Lahore Kebab House which was another that used to get rave reviews

That one’s busy with a wedding on our arrival day, which is when I was hoping to book it. BUT the Marylebone location is available, so we’re going with that — even though it’s almost 45 min from our hotel (vs. 13 min), and apparently the tube workers are on strike ATM

Hoping bigly that’s sorted out 3 weeks from now :crossed_fingers:t2:

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! A picnic sounds lovely should the weather play along. My friend’s been living in London for a couple of years now, so I’m sure she has some opinions as well

So sorry to miss you on this visit :frowning:

You’re very welcome! Even if the weather doesn’t cooperate, you can do an indoor picnic in your hotel room with a nice bottle of supermarket wine (both Waitrose and M&S have nice wine selections) or canned M&S cocktails which had a brief moment of notoriety when a prominent British politician was caught swigging one on public transport!

M&S cocktails in cans are actually very nice and I am guilty of drinking them in hotel rooms.

Our fancy-shmancy hotel has a rooftop garden. On the uni’s dime, natch

This place is certainly more reasonably priced than River Cafe. Thanks for this recommendation👍🏼

The Dusty Knuckle is a bakery I want to check out in London.

I am a M&S fan girl, and Sainsbury’s fan girl.

I’m also a Fortnum’s fan girl. LOL.

I can’t believe it’s been 7.5 years since my last visit to London.
