Then they should set their home screen to “latest.” Or just click on it.
User is using an iPad. For s+g I tried to set it to show ‘latest’ on my iPhone/Safari - don’t see how to do so. I suspect this is also true on an iPad.
I’ve always heard about screaming into the void, but… typing into it is a new one
See where it says 14m? That’s the latest post. Click that.
Conversely, if you have a post count (something like 27/35), click the larger number. Then click its time stamp.
Click on the onion icon in the upper left
A dropdown menu should appear.
It does not.
None of these tips have worked for me.
An old thread with a new post….I have to scroll down to read the new post. The thread takes time to load, page by page.
I would like to view the latest, new post.
Threads from years ago, a restaurant I am interested in, has a new post, I have to page down, through, let’s say through a 100 old posts to see the latest post. Takes a few minutes.
I am not interested in a review from 5 years ago.
Thanks for the help.
I would like to change my view from the beginning of the thread, to the last posts.
Current iPad, tons of memory, latest processor.
Maybe if you mention a particular thread you are interested in might help somehow? I for one am at a loss here.
Using the suggestions, I tried the Trader Joe’s thread, over 440 posts, with a recent post. I was not able to read the recent/latest post.
I do not remember looking at the thread previously. I am not interested in 5 year old posts, may not be relevant. I tested the recommendations and had to scroll through every existing posts, about 5 at a time.
Thanks for your help.
I just looked at the thread; What are you listening to. I tried suggestions, and would have had to scroll over 500 posts.
I’m not on an iPad but frankly don’t see why that would be any different from my MacBook Air, but using the scroller on the right of the screen it takes me less than a few seconds to scroll down to the most recent post
Maybe it’s your internet speed/connection?
Yeah, if you click the time stamp of the last post (as @small_h provided a helpful graphic for) it goes right to the last post, no scrolling involved. I just tried that with the GTA desserts post that had almost 400 unread posts (by me, because I’m not a dessert person, nor in the GTA) and I dropped right down to the latest post in under a second, with no scrolling or dragging involved. Then you can work your way back to whatever post(s) seem relevant. The OS shouldn’t matter.
How about when you click on the bacon strips?
My iPad shows latest.
Ah yes, on my iPhone right now, clicking the bacon strips gets me a view called “latest.” Have never seen it before.
This doesn’t answer the OP’s issue (because this shows all unread in a thread and that may be hundreds of posts) but at least I have learned something new!
I work in tech and one of the things I do is run testing sessions where we test new features before we release them. The differences between desktop experience /performance and mobile
experience/performance continue to surprise me, even in this era of responsive design.
Tell me a site where this works as you expect - I’m curious!
Srsly, this sounds like an internet speed issue.
That’s correct. On my iPhone, I can only see it after clicking the bacon.
This reply from @small_h shows exactly how to do this, and works irrespective of platform.
If it’s not working for you, you’re not doing what she illustrated.
Repeating the same thing with new pictures:
- Click the post count (eg 23/33 in my pic below).
- Then click the time stamp of the last post at the bottom of the slider (6m in this case).
- That takes you to the last post.
