aaaaand now it’s too cold.
Shortbread layer is baking.
Next, making the caramel.
Wait. You’re ahead of yourself. Weren’t you planning to do the millionaire’s shortbread tomorrow? Or did you swap that for big shop? And did you pull the soup??
All good vibes to you, may your sleep be sound and your allergies dormant!
Yeah, decided to swap and bake the shortbread today and cake #3 tomorrow.
yay! It’s so great when you can feel it working, the nasal passages and sinuses opening up, the eyes stop itching…
I just started azelastine this spring too. It seems to work!
do you take with a pill as well? i’m not sure if i am supposed to do both (but I did)
Caramel is on, but the whole pan needs to cool down quite a bit before I can put the chocolate on. It’s in the fridge.
Chocolate coating in progress.
That’s a wrap for today.
Tomorrow: chicken salad, cake 3, glazes/finishing for cakes 1 and 2, flowers, last-minute shop, set-up at the venue.
And then an epic nap, I presume.
I do not. But my nose is always a problem, so that’s what my doctor was trying to fix.
Saturday morning!
I went down to the church this morning to kibbutz with the ladies setting up the tables. I set up a sample place setting for them, dropped of some heavy items, and now am off to buy chicken, turkey, swiss, flowers and a few other things.

I know you’re in the home stretch on your project, but I have some advice that may be helpful WRT allergies: neti-pot. For context, I’m a chronic environmental allergy sufferer. I take two ceterizine (Zyrtec) a day (morning and night) for eight months out of the year, and one per day the rest of the year. That’s on top of year-round allergy shots. I get some relief from all that, but when I use a neti-pot at least once a day during the height of allergy season - which starts for me in late February in some years - and continuing to mid-June or July, I feel a LOT better. Sinuses are clearer longer, not as much coughing, and I sleep better, too.
I dug mine out three days ago and nearly wept with relief after using it. Those things are MAGICAL. Thank you!
CetIrizine does it for me, but doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to— it drops out after 6 hours. Ayr nasal gel keeps the nostrils supple.
Lovely!
