We went to Lyly recently.
Good pho, but not among the best pho in the city. Yet we left wishing we had something like it in our neighborhood.
It’s opened !!
we are getting a branch of the well-reviewed, boston-based Tatte Bakery and Cafe just a short walk from our apt!
we just walked by on the way to the frick, menu looks good!
Reviews from friends nearby have been cautiously optimistic, though there is so much choice for Thai around there that it’s hard to unseat the familiar ones.
Have you tried it yet?
what did you think of The Frick?
The frick might be my favorite nyc art museum, it’s been very crowded though. A couples membership quickly pays for itself and one doesn’t have to purchase tickets in advance or join the queue.
Nice! My wife works there. I was just curious of your perspective. Thanks.
Hopefully it’s fun to work there surrounded by so much beauty. My wife was an art history major and prefers it to the met. The size is perfect for an hour and to an hour and half visit.
Best,
- it seems construction has at long last begun at hmart
- I have a new fav coffee shop but it’s kinda a hike from our apt: https://www.dearcoffeenyc.com/
- it seems Our New Place chinese restaurant on e79th is now Coatang szechuan and their website looks interesting: https://sichuancuisine.us/ with menu photos here: https://sichuancuisine.us/megamenu/我们的菜单/
best,
Finally, a new ues pizza shop looking to make top tier pizza! Nova at 90th and 2nd, nice bake, they finished this grandma burrata slice with eevo, a fresh grate of hard cheese and a basil leaf.
Taco Mahal is expanding to Lenox Hill.
There’s almost nothing Mexican on that menu, except for the guac. I mean, it looks good, but folding a roti like a taco does not fusion cuisine make.
Someone should tell Roy Choi that.
Must appeal to someone – it will be their 3rd location.
(She’s of mixed Latin & Indian heritage from what I read.)
Goa Taco did pretty well with paratha tacos for a long time (COVID killed them, iirc).
I wouldn’t want saag paneer, which I like (creamed spinach, I love), even on a fresh-made corn tortilla. But you’re right about the minimal Mexican influence on the menu, apart from the shape of the roti tacos, like these, and the naan tacos, which I haven’t tried.
Yeah I don’t get the wet stuff in a taco concept.
Easy to do paneer tikka, tandoori chicken (or even a barely-sauced tikka), pulled lamb, and so on.
