Pastrami ?

As I mentioned upthread, my local Wegman’s sells it in their deli department.

It’s $3.00 more per pound if you get it through Instacart.

and apparently $5.00 more at the cheese shop.

I’m shocked….

The pastrami Langer’s uses from RC isn’t the regular one available in shops but made after their specifications

All good!

Here’s a venerable retail name in quality deli:

Well, Instacart just brought me some, nicely oxidized :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:. I guess it was my turn for an Instacart multiple order fail shopper. I always make sure to buy slimy lettuce, too!

And they left out stuff in the order that I was charged for. Yes, I got a refund for that.

Ugh. I hate IC so much. Sorry that keeps happening to you :frowning:

I’m getting stronger. Soon… soon I will venture into Wegman’s.

IC also doesn’t list everything that I know is available in a a store.

@grangieangie I tried my hand at oven pastrami today using brined corned beef — highly recommend!

Inspired by this thread I made some Pastrami for the family. Bringing some to my dad for Passover.

What was your process? Looks great!

I’m still waiting for the corned beef go on clearance this year

I bought a bunch and threw them in the freezer weeks ago when they were 1.89/#. I crusted them and then smoked until the crust was set and the internal temp got to 160. I rested them and then steamed to 195. Rested as long as possible.

Yeah, the cheapest I saw them was 3.99/5.99 the week before St. Pat’s. Last year, @vinouspleasure flagged clearance at 1.99, so I picked up some more later. Hasn’t hit that yet this year.
