Ozempic, Wegovy, GLP-1 meds / compounded semaglutide

I was started on Ozempic for heart failure after getting Covid 2 years ago. I’m down about 40 lbs…205 to 165, and have certainly lost a lot of muscle mass, BUT, I cant say it was more from the Ozempic itself, or the lack of exercise induced by the cardiomyopathy.

India might be the place to get your semaglutide fix cheaply soon. In The Times of India today:

$4-$8 a month for me depending on the pharmacy(dispensing fee). One of the many perks of being 65+!!

Do they ship, or does one have to take the plane ticket price into account?

:joy: - that would make it more expensive for sure. Guess people could stock up via friends or on holiday :woman_shrugging:t2:

Get us all some! Of course, posting would fall off since nobody would be eating anymore :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I think it won’t wipe out the HO community…

Maybe I can pursue my own version of Breaking Bad… supplying semaglutide instead of crystal meth.

I was being facetious, as usual

@PedroPero hyperbole is delish, innit?

Not sure if patent expiration in certain parts of the world will lower the prices for GLP1 injectables in the US. The main US patents are still in place until 2032-2033 and importing drugs isn’t trivial. In addition, GLP1 injectables aren’t classical small molecule drugs but more complex to manufacture, so it will put even a high hurdle to get easy access to it including trustworthy QC.

What will more likely lower prices in the US in the short term are clinical data from head-to-head studies. Here is a very revent study which will cause problems for Novo and most likely it will lead to lower prices from them, e.g. a little bit less weight loss but only half the price

Canada’s population in early 2026 is 41.5 Million, with 33.1 Million adults over the age of 18.

Close to 9 percent of Canadian adults are taking GLP-1 drugs right now.

It really is a wonder drug.. All of my side effects have dissipated, my appetite is kinda back but not as voracious as before and I’m still down about 20lbs. Win win!! #betterlivingthroughdrugs

Give it some time

I think Americans have gotten used to large portions and too much snacking. Not enough exercise.

I’m thinking I’d people would start their meals with an organic apple, then fresh raw veggies, they might then eat smaller main dishes.

I’ve been enjoying Good Culture cottage cheese inside a pita, sometimes I add some za’ataar.

If I did that, I’d be done eating after the vegetables. And subsequently malnourished.

If I could expand on your comment… I’ll take raw veggies (carrot sticks, celery sticks, sprouts or even long cucumber strips) and roll them inside a half sheet of nori (no rice). The nori (half sheet) only has 7 calories and is a great way to make a sandwich substitute.

You can certainly add some hot sauce or other low calorie condiment to the roll. And for some reason, this really curbs my appetite and my desire for snacking. I’ll use this trick to drop a few pounds, if I gained any over a holiday, etc.
