Oxtail Is Gaining Fans. Not Everyone Is Happy About That.

Mr Bean and his fishing buddies say this all the time - Ain’t going fishing - I’m going catching! Or it’s variation - A bad day of fishing is better than a good day working!

If you’re ever at the Jersey Shore give me call so you can compare.

So, would you like to start a separate thread for your fishing trip & subsequent sashimi meal planning? :joy:

Love to make it out that way. My fishing trip to N. WI is my last trip of the summer.

This is what I get when I try to post one of my own photos. It usually stalls the post midway and then says you are editing this post in another window.
Pix off the net seem to post fine.
@moderators - any ideas?

Just got back from a week of catching and eating myself sick on walleye and panfish. Might not be ocean, but it’s what I grew up on. Hope y’all are catching and eating. Fishing adds years to your life…unless you do it for a living.

That sounds great. I know Mr Bean would be jealous. Fishing here hasn’t been great lately. Strong south winds have kept the water too cold for much action. However, he did hear they were starting to catch lots of tuna 50ish miles off shore. :crossed_fingers:

Our waters are pretty high, so lake fishing has weakened, but the smaller creeks and rivers have some treats.

I didn’t grow up in northern WI, but spent many summers there and ate my fill of battered and fried walleye and sautéed small (perch?) fish. Gawd, the cousin’s place always reeked of Crisco.

DO YOU WANT TO START A NEW THREAD ABOUT FISHING?

Asking for a friend :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Uff. I know that smell. I never use Crisco, but my mom sure did. Why I fry most things in the outdoors. Like cigarettes, hard stink to get out.

Pot of Hawaiian inspired oxtail working.

Star Anise, Tangerine Peel, Ginger, Onion, Dried Chiles, Peanuts, Shitake . Almost ready, taste very beefy already.

Should be great with Steamed Rice, Julienned Ginger, Chinese Parsley and some Soy Sauce.

I started this in response to favorite saltwater fish thread but I can’t find that one.
More about eating than catching though.
