I’m sorry for your loss, and that of his/her/their extended family and loved ones.
Oddly enough, independent distillers are allowed to remain open (for curbside pickup and delivery). The one in my town is out of just about everything so no bourbon or whiskey for me. But another one nearby is delivering my two bottles of vodka tomorrow. It’s not the best vodka . . . but any port in a storm.
If I wasn’t on the Jersey shore, I’d offer to drive to the state border and make a delivery to you!
I would so love that! We could finally meet IRL. (and I’d get some good booze). But states like Jersey and Delaware are turning back PA tags at the borders. I don’t know . . . NJ seems more dangerous
Sis 1’s family went to the Wildwood home. Sis 2’s family went to their Pocono home. In both cases I don’t think it’s an escape from the virus; just a change of scenery for sis, b-i-ls and their dogs. As they tell me, it’s just a move from one house to another. No shopping . . . Face masks . . . Social distancing.
Oldest nieces have husbands and kids and they are all sheltering in place. I cannot imagine being in a house with 2 or 3 kids, though . NJ niece has an acre and WV niece has 10+ acres.
I foresee one of two outcomes: 1. better behaved more disciplined children or 2. parental suicide.
My SIL seems to be spending a good bit of time sitting in the garage.
My sisters are both teachers, and their (adorable) kids are very-well disciplined. Their husbands are also hard-working disciplined guys.
The others? Hmmm
I’m not a parent but thanks to people I follow on Twitter, I’ve discovered ‘parent Twitter’ tweets and some of them are HYSTERICAL. Seriously. I had no idea there WAS a ‘parent’ section until now! WTFDAD is one that stands out if you’re interested; he’s funny and he retweets a lot of other very funny people.
That said, if you ARE stuck at home with more than one kid (any age) right now, you have my utmost respect (and sympathy)!
The fork thing just doesn’t seem right.
Nor to me. Thoughts with you Sunshine.

Back to watching Tiger King, after friends and relatives extracted a promise that I would do so; not as hard to watch as 1st 1/2 episode, but no extra wine was needed. Bizarre, but, like a disaster, hard to keep from looking after a certain point. Guess they’ve added a couple more episodes as story keeps evolving.
Enjoying Ozark a lot, but haven’t watched earlier season/seasons. BTW, Penzey’s Ozark seasoning, which we just tried for 1st time, is seriously good, in our opinions’ anyway.
I live in the Tampa area, so that little sideshow has been in our local news for years now. I started the first episode but couldn’t stick with it.
That 1st episode was just brutal to watch. I’d never heard the stories before, guess it didn’t make the news this far northwest @Sunshine842.
Yes, it is, a big favorite around Casa Rat. Tiger King seems like exactly the kind of drive-in exploitation bullshit I love - but not enough to sign up for Netflix. Eventually I’ll see it.
The local smoke shop is doing a brisk business. I needed some “paper” products as did the very young lady in front of me. Another customer was about to pull the trigger on a 110 dollar “pipe.”
I sampled a new batch during the day which I don’t usually do, went to Kroger, self checked, and smooth forgot to pay. Evening only and I’m not leaving this place.
Based on what I’ve seen on the roads for the past two days, “Stay Home. Stay Safe.” has crashed and burned here in SE Michigan. Yesterday in Lansing, our State Capitol, about 8,000 “patriots” surrounded the Capitol building and created pretty much an all day gridlock using their cars and SUVs and pick up trucks. Masks were pretty much sparse.
Fishermen living close by our small Lake St Clair gave a Middle Finger Salute to the Macomb County Sheriff Marine Patrol AND the U.S. Coast Guard by firing up scores of cruisers and smaller boats and went “out fishin’”.
Sheriffs in four northern Michigan counties told the Governor where she could stuff her Executive Orders.
None of this will end well.
Hmmm, maybe these “patriots” will be getting sick, and start to think differently.
It is said that men are dying at twice the rate of females from Covid-19; in my observations, when out in the car, (don’t go in anywhere, unless I’m masked, and it’s a little country store only) I see far fewer men wearing masks than women. Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Too bad they’re putting others at risk, however.
I hope it’s the same up there but down in Houston/Galveston you don’t mess around with local law enforcement including Game Wardens and especially the U. S. Coast Guard.
It will not end well.
Buy your other fresh flowers. The Wifeacita loves them as do I and with a little TLC they can last two weeks. I get them at the grocery store and we usually have some at home.
Agree, most strongly! As well, flowers are a gentle reminder that life goes on…we can all be thankful at least, that this horror is happening when the weather is starting to improve.
Fortunately, there have been no signs of anything like this in the UK. Support for the extension of the lockdown for at least another three weeks seems very high. I am not a political supporter of our government but it has crafted its message about the virus very well - stay home, protect the health service, save lives. It’s been at the heart of every daily press conference and mirrored in those given by the devolved governments in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and by regional leaders in England’s major urban centres. . From what I read in my newspaper today, it doesnt seem that the political system in America is speaking with one voice and, I believe, that could put the country at great peril. Hope not, of course.
