Yes! @BierMonk, on the red beans and rice, although I didn’t think of it at the time.

Spent the morning touring the city and right now we are at Crabby Jacks

More later

P.S. Best fried chicken!

Mouthwatering!

The crust was just the right crisp and flavor, the meat tender, moist, and flavorful, and somehow the pieces remained that way, and almost painfully hot, from start to finish.

Comparing Pralines

Trying different brands and forming an opinion; I prefer crunchy pecans, and creamy (vs sandy or grainy) candy. New Orleans Candy Company smoother than Loretta’s.

Yesterday from Loretta’s; seemed more sandy.

I’ve been told to try some from Southern Candy Maker.

Herbsaint for dinner;

Looked like a different city

Starters were
Gumbo; husband said best if three so far. I was a little surprised since the roux lent a butter note he didn’t like the night before.

Crab on watermelon gazpacho

Fried oysters

Mains were
Louisiana shrimp on ratatouille; I really enjoyed this!

Short ribs with shredded potato wedge, small plate; son said best short rib ever; too bad so small

Spaghetti carbonara although it was called spaghetti with guanciali and a poached egg

Wagyu bavette I think ; small but husband was quite full

For desert he had a plate and spoon

I had a butter banana tart a la more; I think the bananas should have been riper, but I finished it, with help from husband who loves crusts more than fillings.

Fried Apple hand pies with caramel ice cream, which son felt was a genius combination

And watermelon sorbet. Refreshing, but went unfinished.

Home again, home again…; well a nearby business.

What a feast! I’ve only been to NOLA once, but your pics make me want to go back."

What kind of weed business has overnight drivers that supply its customers with… anything?

I am partial to places that just give you the whole dang roll of paper towels when the food is potentially messy. Sweet or sour pickles?

Everything looks wonderful, and those shrimp!!!

Herbsaint! That was an highlight of a NOLA trip for us a looong time ago. Happy to see it’s still going strong.

Sour! And I used several paper towels.

Cochon Butcher makes pralines with bacon in them. I found them almost too savory. But you might want to try them for completeness of your research!

M Bistro in our hotel for lunch.

I finally got some BBQ shrimp, and grits, and really enjoyed them. A starter!

Husband got Blackened redfish, and waxed poetic about the sauce.

For a main I got fish tacos. I should have known better.

Husband had his fourth iteration of gumbo. Not as dark. This was his favorite.

Then shopping for sweets!

Everything looks delicious, especially the shrimp with grits! Or should that be grits with shrimp?
But I AM SO NOT READY for Halloween! LOL!

If you can get to the Creole Creamery, their ice cream is absolutely dreamy. We walked about an hour to get there, and it was totally worth it!
