I tried Brick’N’Cheese French Tacos.
The fillings before they’re folded
My first French taco. This is the Farmer, with chicken and mushrooms. Basically chopped up nuggets with mushrooms, bland sauce and fries in a flour tortilla. $14.99 before tax.
It is substantial and bland. I didn’t like the idea of combining ground beef and chicken, which is what goes into The Signature and The Original.
I don’t think I’ll be back. French Tacos have now been checked off my list. Hahaha
For a filling $14.99 sandwich supper on College Street, I’d recommend PJ Clucks or a shawarma in a pita. LOL.
Cosmic Donairs on College St, serving Halifax Donairs
I tried the dark meat chicken fingers and fried pickles at PJ Clucks last night. 4 pieces and 2 sides coat $21.
I hadn’t tried fried pickles before. They aren’t really my thing. The chicken was pretty good.
(I prefer Mary Brown’s LOL ) The coleslaw is okay, too much dressing. Potato salad is better than average but the potato is too mashed up.
I stopped by Gateau Ghost today, and tried their mortadella, pesto, cheese, and pistachio focaccia sandwich. Really nice focaccia. Didn’t need the cheese, imo. $13. Good value. Ready- made.
Flat white. (Not as strong in terms of amount or strength of coffee : milk , compared to Hamers, Found or Sam James. Milkier than I prefer.) (I’ll say 7/10 for this Flat White)
Lots of laptop people on a Tuesday morning (if you’re looking for a daytime café that is okay with laptop people, if you know what I mean. LOL)
Susie’s Rise and Dine has opened in the old Perla space at 539 College Street near Euclid. They take reservations and will eventually offer take-out.
