Fantastic!!! My wife and I were 4-season regulars at the Main Street location. Love, love, love them both and I could not be more thrilled.
ThisiswhatI"msaying.
I too made one visit to Sunset Landing. Didn’t even eat there, walked in and walked out.
Some people loved it, kinda like Moonstruck, I don’t get the love for that place
J. Spinelli Farmstand on Route 516 in Old Bridge is open and stocked with cucumber, zucchini, summer squash, and maybe other stuff I don’t remember. Definitely “contactless”; they have a cash box where you deposit your payment. (Honor system, but they do have what appears to be a camera aimed at the stand.) Most things are $3 a box, with the boxes having eight or nine miscellaneous sized cucumbers, six good-sized zucchini, etc. You dump the produce into plastic bags they provide (or use your own) and leave the box for re-use.
They are definitely local: the stand is on one side of the driveway, and the growing squash plants are on the other!
I’m hoping they start having peppers and eggplants soon.
Tried brownstone yesterday. Fun place to pig out in breakfast food. Will return for sure. I had the breakfast combo. I picked French toast instead of waffle or pancake.
The crew from Heirloom at the St. Laurent was on CBS Saturday this morning…really nice piece. If you’re a fan of Chef Viana’s or you’ve been meaning to try it, I can promise it’s worth the trip AND the price at either HK location! Still need to get my arse to Lita.
Let us take a moment to remember The Wild Scallion (ate there as a child with my parents), and before that, The Lobsterman (before my time), which is currently being demolished in Leonardo after sitting vacant for what seems like two decades. Don’t know what is going there, but the parking situation makes it limited and is the reason why no restaurant gave it another shot. The previous overflow parking was a lot where Wawa currently stands. I’ve wanted to get my hands on that sign for years. RIP.
New Holmdel Italian Specialty Store Sets Grand Opening Date
HOLMDEL, NJ - Calling all Holmdel-area Italian cuisine lovers.
Il Mercato, the area’s latest Italian specialty store, is slated to open on June 30, complete with a second grand opening celebration, according to a Facebook post from its owners.
From 4 to 6 p.m., the new market at 37 Main St. will be offering free tastings of Italian specialties to the tune of a live DJ. The store held an initial grand opening on May 22, according to social media.
Il Mercato stands at the former site of Cracked Olive Market, which closed in February 2022 due to the rising costs of goods, labor shortages and supply chain issues.
The new store offers bagels, breakfast wraps, parm heroes, reubens, spicy grilled chicken subs and cold deli sandwiches, as well as an array of salads. You can view Il Mercato’s daily menu here.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but the old Cubacan space on the Asbury boardwalk is being taken over by the folks from Deal Lake Bar & Co.
This will make a third space on the boardwalk for them as they took over langosta and the bar a couple of doors down, in addition to the massive place they are getting ready to open in Fort Monmouth
So I may be wrong about it being associated with Deal Lake but they were open when I walked by after an early dinner at Stella Marina
It’s called Swimcrush and it is indeed being run by BarCo Brands, the folks who own The Break, Low Dive, and the forthcoming space at Ft. Monmouth. From what they told me, it’s a real beach bar vibe - walk-up bar, rum buckets, raw bar, picnic tables outside, ping pong/other games inside, and limited table service. I’m helping them get some live music in there as well and will get a separate thread started when more details are solidified. I knew they were racing to open this weekend - rather impressed they were able to do so.
A friend stopped by yesterday said the drink she had was tasty and enjoyed the baked oysters and whole belly clams
‘Showy & The Boats’ despite the awful name is a really good band. Caught them on LBI last week.
If we’re going to start recommending bands my friends band The Moroccan Sheepherders are great & have a huge following. They will pack the place.
Check out YouTube or their Facebook page
They are WAY too big for what’s happening at Swimcrush, but thanks! (Also, they’re a GREAT band!)
I’m not here to solicit bands, but the owners want a Key West vibe w a soloist or duo playing reggae/yacht rock and the like. If you know someone who is interested, they should reach out to the restaurant directly. TY!
Why is my question
Driving through Freehold today the home of Aarzu & Federici’s I noticed a new Indian restaurant where the Cuban restaurant was and almost directly across the street a new pizza place called Singha’s not opened.yet.
Why ??? Anyone got any information on either place?
The Singha’s may be related to the pizza place of the same name in the Patel’s shopping center at the corner of Route 9 and Ernston Road in Sayreville/Parlin. Nothing special — they used to have buy two, get one plain free, but that was pre-pandemic and may have changed. They seemed to focus on smaller pizzas (probably considered single serving).
I’m not aware of that but I think it’s a different spelling
How many pizza places can Main Street support?
Just saw a post that Latin Diner has opened in the spot where Cuban Cafe used to be on Memorial Drive in Asbury Park…
We drove by the other day on our way to Ada’s. It looked nice but didn’t stop. Those prices seem insanely low. Makes me wonder.
