NJ Food News

We had dinner at the Atlantic House a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed everything about it. We were warmly greeted at the door, seated, and our server Danny came right over to welcome us. He was pleasant and very helpful in guiding us with menu choices. For starters the crispy Brussel sprouts were excellent and although their take on clams casino was different than what we’re used to, we couldn’t stop soaking their fresh grilled bread in the delicious broth. For mains we had the burger (equally as good as Barnacles or Pour House), fish and chips (fresh, crispy and presented nicely) and the scallops (daughter cleaned the plate). There were also a few specials that we passed on but we thought the menu was varied enough for everyone’s taste while offering traditional dishes for the mainstream customers. The drinks were very good, my husband really enjoyed the spicy lemonade. We are looking forward to a return visit.

I agree on the Brussel Sprouts… And the Fish and Chips was a huge portion.

Just read an article about the best things to eat last year in the US and this was last on the list:

I’m thinking they ate at the Roselle Park location since the AP location says “Coming soon.”

Also, you can get the clothesline bacon they talk about at David Burke’s Ventanas in Fort Lee!

I’m baffled by this ‘best of’ list. Starbucks, Sonic, Wendy’s. Wonder who the sponsors of Delish (MSN) are…

You can get the clothesline bacon at David Burke’s Driftwood in Sea Bright.

Poor bastard who wrote this article, I wonder if he actually ate some of this garbage. You couldn’t pay me enough to eat or even share a table with anyone who thinks more than half this list is actual food.

This is the former red spot, right?

Yes, per the article.

" The plan would create a need for 33 additional parking spaces, none of which are provided, according to the board agenda."

Should be interesting…

I came to despise Montclair and its lack of parking. Great little restaurants; no where to park. Red Bank appears to be the same or worse. Asbury can be a bear but a little time-shifting and it can work.

Kaya’s Kitchen (a vegan restaurant in Belmar) is opening a cafe in the Lakehouse Music Academy in AP in the former Domesticated Dad space. DD is moving to Bangs Avenue.

I saw that was opening. I always went by the belmar location but never made it there.

Will def check it out, vegan done right can be really good

Looks like this will be location number two! I was out with a friend today who is vegetarian and she said they make a great fake Reuben, fwiw.

Late to the game, but, yes, I think they made that change. Then a month or two later, got word that they were stressing that they were the same owners, had the same food etc. Heard that business had dropped off. They are still there and open.

What is going on at one willow nowadays?

Also did anyone hear that one of my faves restaurants made the top 100 on open table? (Over 30,000 restaurants and 3 nj places were chosen.)

@paryzer now is the time after the new year. No traffic, free and and parking, and no need to make reservations several weeks in advance.

Which restaurant is that @corvette_johnny?
We actually just came back from Il Nido and had a spectacular dinner. It was worth the 45 minute / 1 hour trip. I’ll write it up later in the Il Nido thread.

Came across this today. I might have voted for Jimmy’s in AP or Frankie Fed’s in Freehold.

saw this one recently. Don’t know much about the other two spots, but Anjelicas gets a big pop around here.

Did you mistype “poop?”

I’m sorry, as the food is pretty good there, but my definition of “best” includes making me comfortable. Anjelica’s has always been too tight for my comfort, and I am not a big guy.
