Thanks for the link. Higo looks good. I’m a big copper canyon fan so I have high hopes for this place. It kind of reminds me of yumi but the pricing is better. I might try this place to tonight.

YW! I figure this is how we hear about newbies…

I read an article with an interview with the owner right before they opened. He said something like it was about time Atlantic Highlands got a quality Asian restaurant, or to that effect. And with Kunya right down the street. I wish them luck, but I was not a fan of such a remark.

That being said, they do have a nice looking menu. I wonder if the $16 steamed pork bun is literally a single bun?

I don’t think Mike was really putting down Kunya, but then again I didn’t see exactly what he said. My guess is he was probably referring to the fact that Atlantic highlands has never had a sushi place “downtown.” I could be wrong but I doubt he would take a low blow at her. I really like his food so I’m hoping this place serves some awesome dishes.

The menu at Higo lists “white tuna” predominantly. I’m guessing it’s escolar.

I was going to say something about that but decided not to. I cringe at certain terms like this. I dont know why restaurants market this. If you are serving albacore, then say it. I guess albacore isn’t as appealing as “white tuna”

Prominently. Fixed.

Whether you’re interested in going or not, FYI…
(@MsBean this will have passed by the time you’re up there)

Damn. More restaurants to think about.

Nice shoutout for the Rutgers Food Innovation Center here. I’m not sure how the product is…anyone ever had one?

I have never had a cone slice of pizza but I would definitely try it!.

Asbury is representing on this article

Oh boy

Interesting. This just appeared this week in the NYT:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/04/dining/una-pizza-napoletana-review.html

oh boy…smart move to open right by the ferry- could get people popping over and not have to go far. The Carton folks should start ramping up production. I’m thrilled for this; does anything else around here sit a the level this place does?

Wow, the New York Times? For as busy as First Ave is in Atlantic Highlands, the spot they are going into (formerly Julia’s which was owned by former MLB player Jon Valentin) has been a bit of a graveyard. With escalating rents and high demand property and business space, it has sat vacant for at least 10 years from what I remember.

There are two pizza places literally within walking distance on the same side of the street, but one sucks and the other has an Italian market aspect. It could work, especially with all the commuters going back and forth to NYC.

Easy answer, no. Not that I am aware.

Nobody is doing true Neapolitan pizza nearby. I have not been, but I’d guess Talulas in Asbury would be the closest, or Razza up in JC.

Rosies is excellent, but not Neapolitan style. I’d say their round is a hybrid of Neapolitan (good dough with an excellent rise) and pizzeria style (because of the gas ovens)

this guy is no joke- he has a rep and known to be a bit over the top but he’s known nationally as one of best pizza makers hands down. This is huge news for the town and area in general.

dude had a scene in Billions at his spot in NY.
