Truly wonderful people. Went to school with a couple of their children. The one has since moved but when she waited on us, she didn’t need a notepad because she knew our orders by heart and my usual request of extra spicy.

So I enjoyed MJ’s so much we ordered there again, this time however no more sushi. ((sigh)) That’s what I was really psyched for, however we got a burger, open faced turkey sandwich and a chicken cutlet pesto sandwich and once again it was all very good. Order of wings were meh, but certainly not bad just not great but overall I’m surprised at the quality vs. kwality of their food I had experienced previously.

Speaking of wings, Jack’s in West Long Branch is re-opening for takeout on Friday. Their website isn’t keeping up with the latest info yet but hopefully they will have their wings and ribs available.

That was what did it for me regarding MJ’s: consistency. First time I went for pizza, wings, and beer, had a very good experience. Second time was alright. Third time was pretty horrible. There would not have been a fourth time if not for a Karaoke night challenge for a certain someone in my life, and for that last time, I don’t know which was worse, the food or the parade of people at the mic.

They are also going to open a BYO location in Fair Haven at the Umbertos location.

yes- was planned though. Owners were retiring. So win win. Looks like this iteration if Jacks will be more family oriented and a bit more upscale. But looking fwd to wings. The area needs more stuff for families to hit up. Very excited

Fair haven needs something. Man what a wasteland of food. For fairly affluent towns around here they are up there near the top, but luckily have some spots close by.
Tavolo Pronto is pretty good- never actually eaten there- but had their food at beach clubs a cpl times and it was really good…
Nauvoo is good for drinks…

agree they are great for drinks- cool setup and really nice bar area…ample parking. almost bought house within walking distance to there before FH prices went totally bananas. Always look back in regret when we drive by. Just wish food was better, but believe it’s well established the owner is a developer and sees it as a vanity project more so than one of passion. Either way- enjoy it for drinks. But would love a good food family spot nearby.
Also @corvette_johnny, not sure if you saw yet, but SittingDuck is doing uncooked steak to go packages- Angus ribeyes. Saw it a few different places on FB.

I live on the other side of the park from Nauvoo and used to go alot…food used to be better IMO but it is what it is…decent for a drink…he owns the Raven as well.
we were almost neighbors…lol…luck for you it didn’t work out!
Between that house and the house on Jackson we missed out on we kick ourselves…cant believe what that block looks like now compared to what it did almost 15 year ago.

Yeah- always losing out to builders or all cash offers of parents buying for their kids to move from Hoboken who didn’t even like the area was disheartening…it’s gotten nuts in FH from when we started looking. There were usually one or two builder redos on the streets we were looking on at that time- now whole blocks are redone into 2nd story plus add ones (but the lots don’t get bigger!) To bring it back on topic, would have been nice to walk to Nauvoo and boskerdoo.
