New items you’ve purchased at the grocery store

Says “toaster pastries” right there on the box.

They’re already baked when you buy them. Toasting them just warms them up. As a kid, I ate many an apple or cinnamon-sugar Pop Tart right out of the box.

Oh, I know they’re technically cooked. But I vastly prefer them hot to cold, and they get a little crisper as well.

I’d probably want to make my own. The original It’s It is still my fave, tho.

I remember some of the neighbor kids burning their tongues on them on the trek to school.

I think freshly toasted pop tarts or toaster strudel with ice cream could be a good thing!

Yes, but not out of hand. Too melty.

Not in a million years.

If there were a thread about "products you’d never purchase / why do these exist?’ I’d have posted these there.

Is there one?

Hmmmm. I thought Niederegger was a premium brand. I once had a gift from the Swiss side of the family of a beautiful box of an array of various classic flavours Niederegger marzipan covered in dark chocolate. Those products you’ve posted look distinctly…downmarket.

Oh, the OG Niederegger marzipan is a thing of beauty. I just can’t imagine ginger, marzipan and chocolate to be a good combo. And the least said about that (truly) bottom one, the better

A lot of chocolate brands here come up with “summer” flavors. Not pictured was a “Green Smoothie” >shudder<

I bought some frozen entrees today. I haven’t been impressed with the Chef Ramsay items so far, but I thought I’d give the Steak & Ale Pie a try.

Also bought some Mings – Spicy Dan Dan Noodles, Chicken Ramen, and Spicy Beef Ramen. These appear to be Walmart’s latest celebrity chef branded products, Ming being Ming Tsai. Edit: These don’t seem to be exclusively a Walmart product, but I hadn’t seen them anywhere else.

Not expecting much from any of these, just was curious about them.

Ginger and marzipan/almonds and chocolate are a great combo you see quite often in different combinations on dessert menus. The Niederegger marzipan combination, e.g. with gin or calvados etc. are actually quite good

That’s if you like the combination. I don’t care for ginger in sweets. I’m still working through the trauma of accidentally eating candied ginger enrobed in chocolate at the tender age of 16.

Oh gosh…Im the opposite. I absolutely love those sticky ginger chews (Gin-Gins or any reasonable facsimile)

Mr. Bionda is the same - loves ginger in savory food, HATES it in sweets. I adore it in anything. TJ’s chocolate covered dried ginger is a thing of beauty (meiner Meinung nach). That whiskey cola thing you posted, though…nope.

You are missing out

Try this combination as it nicely balance the “bite” of ginger with intense dark chocolate

Nein danke. Give it to @biondanonima instead, who will appreciate it more than I ever will.

Apropos seasonal chocolate. Germans go a lil apeshit with flavors. This is only a couple I saw today. There are more to follow

*with raspberry / strawberry cream filling, respectively.

I tried the sheep’s milk yogurt today. TBH it didnt taste all that different from the cow’s milk yogurt, but my PIC said it tasted like the “yogurt” (մածուն / matzoon) his Armenian grandma used to make from scratch.

A little thinner than the cow’s milk, and only 6% fat. I think I prefer the regular Mevgal.
