New items you’ve purchased at the grocery store

I try the pumpkin spice lattes and other related spice lattes /coffees at indie coffee shops, which are often less sweet than Starbucks. Some make their own syrups or use spices instead of a PSL syrup.

I ordered a half sweet PSL at Starbucks last week. It was still much sweeter than the ones my indie coffee shops make.

I liked both, the Tate’s cookies and the coffee.

I was surprised how close the Pumpkin Spice fragrance was to the fragrance of the syrup used in coffee shops. I can make milky Pumpkin Spice coffee without adding all the sugar that comes with a PSL.

Not purchased - but got for free from Harris Teeter
So I took them up on my last offer when I got delivery. They were also offering one year of free next day delivery on orders over $35. Took them up on that, too. They have refrigerated trucks and their own drivers, just like Giant/Peapod used to offer, until they killed off the program here.

Gonna try it today.

Fidanzati capresi pasta from Fabbrica della Pasta de Gragnano: https://www.fabbricadellapastadigragnano.com/la-pasta/fusilli-corti/fidanzati-capresi/

Found them at Home Goods for $5/500g - well worth it. Very nice texture/flavor and I love this shape - it holds onto an incredible amount of sauce.

Peapod never offered free product just $ off delivery. Lucky you!

I have not seen this in real life, just a pic.

I’ve def seen it at Stop & Shop in the “fresh” seafood section. Never tried it.

It’s striking how Old Bay seems to be the predominant seafood seasoning in the US.

The next-day, free-for-orders-over $35 membership usually costs $59 for a year. $99 for same day. Of course, you can do the same thing with Instacart without the refrigerated truck delivery. They’ve also been offering very substantial coupons off your total order. I wonder if they’re stepping into the breach that Giant left?

So… I’ve never purchased an “XL” grapefruit before, and will admit I had my expectations crushed. WTF.

I wouldn’t even try to eat that. I’d bag it up and return it to the store from where you bought it. WTF is right!

I’m not walking to the Acme for that! But I ate THE WHOLE THING

I don’t pay for them, but I am frequently gifted delicious grapefruit (probably closer to pomelos) with very thick skin

In Japan they put whole pomelos in baths and hot springs during the winter. You can put the skins in as well. It smells wonderful and is good for your skin.

No need to get pithy!

I had the same thing happen with a few of the “extra large” lemons I’ve bought. Now I stick to the usual size ones.
