I prefer thinking about the US in this way …
Oh dear. I gotta move …
yeah, me two
No way coffee is the favorite flavor for all of New England (except CT, but they skew towards NY anyway).
I must move to New England, and I guess Mrs. ricepad will be in Pennsylvania. I’ll miss her.
And it looks like my PIC and I will have to move back to his home state. The fact that both our favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio was one of the things we first connected on when we met
That said, I’m kinda flabbergasted that neither butter pecan nor maple walnut make an appearance anywhere - two childhood favorites of mine, as they were unheard of in Germany and therefore exotic.
Mint Chip?
I knew there was good reason to distrust Pennsylvania!
Oh, so so many, many reasons
My dad’s favorite flavor was pistachio. He introduced me to it at a young age. It’s one of my faves.
I don’t remember my dad’s favorite flavor, but he devoured it with gusto - being able to do so as someone who’d lost all his teeth in his 30s, so his denture plates served as a protection from brain freeze. He actually had to force himself to slow down so his students, whom he would take out for ice cream on occasion after or instead of class, didn’t notice. He was obviously embarrassed about them.
My favorite flavor is Vanilla. Our go to is TJ’s French Vanilla. My wife’s is Butter Pecan & is constantly miffed that Our TJ’s never has it. They always have Van, Choc, & Coffee and one more rotating flavor & all 3 of the former will be coming back w/ her after a TJ’s run & maybe the rotating flavor.
We recently tried a lesser brand Coffee-- sorry. can’t 'member it-- Bingham’s maybe-- & it was insipid.
Took me a long time as a 26 year old Midwesterner to understand the New England affinity for cold coffee anything, including ice cream. The key to it for me is tons of sugar and cream. My favorite ice cream from a local shop is coffee Heath Bar crunch. It has big chunks of Heath Bar candy in it. They’re only open in the summer.
My grandmother had lost all of her teeth I think in her twenties - lots of problems and extraction was the only “remedy” or treatment. I never, ever saw her without her dentures. Neither did anyone else. Trust me. But I never saw her eat ice cream, either, that I remember, so I have no metric to judge her speed. I have to admit I’d never heard ice cream brain freeze until a couple of years ago!
That was the whole reason we craved slurpees.
Wild and crazy 12 year olds we were!
I obviously have led a sheltered life.
Rainbow Sherbet? Gimme a break.
Montana should be huckleberry.
I swear kale leaves me screaming … like balsamic vinegar whatever
Oh the brain freeze!
