More Chowhound Shenanigans

I got the survey a couple of days ago - it’s something I’ve seen before on CH more than a couple of times over the last eight, ten years. This was the first time doing the survey when I said I would NOT recommend CH to a friend, which was true but made me sad all over again.

LOL. I’m BLFd (banned for life) but still got the popup for the survey

I got the survey and replied accordinly sadly the most interesting posts are in feedback these days. They clearly had all the feedback needed and chose to ignore it I have no idea what they hope that silly survey will accomplish.

I must really not count. I visit (briefly) every day and have never received the survey request. Maybe my ABP is especially effective? Or maybe they didn’t particularly care for my Beta feedback?

This is your problem you need to subject your eyes to the hideous new format for a little bit I think. Perhaps it is a ploy to keep eyeballs in hope of getting the survey to pop

I got another popup survey on my one visit of the day. Didn’t bother this time.

Maybe I’ll leave it open in a tab for a while and pop over to see if it appears.

Wow. That’s pretty badass. I’ve done some crazy shit over the years, but have never been banned for life from anything more than an ex’s bed - and even that’s probably still subject to renegotiation.

I have looked back at the old place a couple times to visit the archives and review the licensing/copyright agreements. Not much though, at my advancing age, it’s dangerous to look back when I’m moving forward - might trip over something and break a hip, you know?

I wound up unbiting my tongue long enough to call “Bullshit” on some of Leff’s cheerleader posts and noticing that Marssy actually went to the trouble to un-like a couple of things I had contributed weeks before. It was all odd, but the latter actually felt good. It was always strange to get a heart from her - like being complimented by an unpopular teacher in front of the whole class.

I emailed Msrssy to argue the case for one of my e-friends asking if the ban could be withdrawn and replaced by a "really, final, final suspension). She replied saying a ban was a ban and it was always permanent.

On another board I use, which I’ve mentioned before for comparisions, you cannot ban someone, only suspend them for a particular period of time. So, sort of mirroring some daft sentencing I read American courts have done, they suspend people for 150 years. After that, they’re welcome to come back if they behave.

Yes, precisely. It’s the same lame Heart phenomenon that used to happen there whenever there was disagreement–children could pick their side in the verbal brawl. It got to the point where it was all about the posters and nothing about the content of the posts being Hearted.

Well, my being reinstated was when Jacq was still around. The current regime are made of stronger stuff - my charms would be wasted on them I’m sure.

Yesty I googled a particular brand of knife that I’d bought at a discount store; a CH thread from a few years ago was one of the few results. As I was reading that thread, the survey came up, so I answered it, despite the fact that I quit CH by e-mail 5 mo ago, in response to which Marssy suspended me. What a fine flute of Schadenfreude I had, filling out that survey! Where it asked what change could be made to restore my good opinion of CH, I replied that even if the previous format were restored, it wouldn’t help, since current management’s focus is clickbait/advertising rather than
well-supported info/discussion from grown-ups.

[Gulp] Are you saying you found a backdoor for the rest of We The Banished to give Marssey & Co. a parting shot? If so, this is a powerful argument for the existence of God. Please, oh, please…

One survey question is “what would improve” CH. I responded " get rid of vipGeorges"!

JMHO, but a reply like that would make you feel better but, most likely, cause your survey to be tossed. Unless you have truly written CH off completely, that survey may provide a small glimmer of hope. I’ve had it pop up 3 times, though, which makes me think it’s not editing for discreet responders and would be too easily dismissible as invalid by them. Clearly your choice.

I left CH open for a long time yesterday, and still no survey for me.

I’d vote for randomness rather than a conspiracy theory, but who knows.

Why do they even bother to have a survey ? None of your comments for the survey will be read . I call this bull shit . Did they listen to us on this last website fiasco . NO !!! They just got rid of us .Quit wasting your time .

Are you on Firefox? If so, you’ll need to disable the default popup blocker for the site (I did, got the survey and responded, and then removed the site from the “allowed” list).

Google Chrome. Maybe tomorrow I’ll remove CH from my ABP. Nah, I gave them my opinion throughout Beta. If they cared what we thought they would never have gone to production with that mess.
