It is addictive! I think it’s sort of like the intense savouriness that is obtained by frying on high heat in animal fats like lard!
Well, I guess I’m not ready to quit HungryOnion.
I stopped by 3 newish establishments in Hyde Park today.
I purchased syrniki, borscht, stuffed peppers and 2 types of Pierogis from Wow Pierogis today. So far, we enjoyed the syrniki. The rest I froze or refrigerated for later.
A loaf of multigrain bread from Churis Bakery, a Brazilian bakery that also has some Canadian and French specialities, as well as sandwiches. This is the Second location of Churis Bakery in London, ON. The other location is located on Adelaide North.
I also tried 2 soups from Piping Kettle, the jambalaya soup and the butternut chicken tikka masala. We liked both soups and we will try more. Piping Kettle has 5 locations across London, ON.
Amigo’s Latin Bakery, which serves Colombian and Salvadoran breakfasts and bandeja paisa, looks good. I will try it at some point.
Uncle Sing’s dim sum. Very good. On Adelaide between Huron and Cheapside.
Pan-fried pork dumplings
Deep-fried taro dumpling filled with pork and veg
Fu Pei Guen/ fried bean curd roll stuffed with shrimp/ tofu skin roll
Har gow/ steamed shrimp dumplings in crystal wrapper . The har gow are the one dish I probably would not order again from this restaurant . The other 5 dishes were very good. The har gow were mediocre.
Nor mai gai / sticky rice steamed in lotus leaf
Char siu bao/ steamed BBQ pork bun
These 6 dishes came to $51.30 before tip.
Zaatarz Bakery on Adelaide. They also serve many savoury dishes and main courses.

A date- filled pastry , $3 each or 2 for $5
Excellent spinach fatayer.
I also bought some baklava which we have not tried yet.
Old North location at Pall Mall and Colborne.

An old fashioned donut ( could have been fresher. I think the supplier fries the donuts the day before, this coffee shop does not have its own baker)
Vietnamese takeout from Thuan Kieu located at Huron and Highbury. Their website offers online ordering. The meal was ready in 30 minutes.
This was my first visit. I’ll be back again.

We had the shrimp Street Style Pad Thai ($24) and vegetable Green Curry ($21) and fresh rolls. The menu selection is smaller than it was 2 years ago.

I liked the noodles as much today as I like Sai Thai in Lambeth or Meesai’s in Byron.
I need to revisit Sagi in Wortley Village, which has excellent Thai noodles.
