tax free?

pretty excited about his tbh.
On the bakery end- we’ve been crushing the pretzel rolls and I’m a big fan the knock off Cinnabons.

I was going to start a new thread yesterday but decided not to. It was going to be titled ā€œthings that piss you off about njā€

Feel free to start it lol.

I go to the store to grab some beer before the Stanley cup game. My girl wants me to get some water as she doesn’t drink tap water (that’s a whole different story.)

I walk over to the dollar store in the same strip and immediately see a 6 pack of water out of place up front and proceed to the cashier so I can get back to the start of the game. He rings me up and says that will be 1.07

I literally had a single dollar on me. Then I said, isn’t water tax free? He said yes but this is flavored water. I didnt realize I grabbed a lemon flavored water. So I looked around for the penny container and did not see one. I asked if he could spot me 7 cents. He said no. I then told him I would be back and I walked outside to get 7 pennies from my car. I didn’t mind. I might have burned a calorie or two walking back to my car…good for me.

The issue is this state. I would love to be in the room where legislators argue over what types of water are going to be taxed. It is freaking water! @The_Happy_Wizard

I was making a most likely bad joke about him not paying his taxes.

Is he still around?

How about water from the hose? As kids we lived on that during our six month summer.

Good to have you back man! Don’t mind me, I’m just ranting. Lol. It’s not the 7 cents, it’s this state.

How is the fishing and eating down there?

Crabbing sucks. I hope in a week or two it will work out.

Went today. All the cases on the right and back with dairy we’re broken so a very unfulfilled trip. Lots of I stocked items as well, more so than usual for Sunday. First time I’ve been there where it felt kinda dreary. Hopefully this is just a one off.

Damned spell check. Meant unstocked items

They had honeycrisps on sale the other day for half what I paid at Wegmans.

Wegmans fruit and tomato prices are always 2x+ other places.

I’m not sure if it has been mentioned here, but this place has a very flexible return policy. My mom bought steaks that tasted terrible and they refunded her in full.

I’m sorry I know I’m stating the obvious but mom cooked steaks ate at least a portion and returned the uneaten but cooked steak and the refunded her? Or they just accepted her word for it? Either way that’s impressive.

No she had two 2 packs. The first two sucked so she took back the unopened package.

They probably would have taken a cooked steak if you didnt eat a lot of it. They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee

Ok that makes a bit more sense but still a great policy!

Mom isn’t the best steak shopper lol

Hmm, I’d say on the contrary that she IS the best steak shopper. Not everywhere I buy steaks has a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

I realize this is a Lidl thread, but I thought I’d note that Aldi’s prices seem to vary wildly from store to store. East Brunswick (Nj) is way more expensive than Old Bridge, which is marginally higher than Hazlet. That is, chips bought in March (and again yesterday) in East Brunswick were 1.89, while in Hazlet in July were 0.99. 12-grain bread varies from 1.25 to 1.79 and cheese curls from 0.85 to 1.89. No more East Brunswick for me!

This is a difference that most people don’t expect in a supermarket chain, at least within the same small area. Yes, Kentucky might be cheaper than Hawai’i, but we’re talking about three stores that are all within about five miles of my house.
