Let's introduce ourselves and get to know one another better

This seems to be the direction that most chefs, or at least most celebrity chefs, tend to go as well. Appreciation for comforting, simple, home cooking. Feel-good food.

I am reminded of Tony Bourdain poking into dives and rhapsodizing.

I’m a great believer eating local foods, and especially in trying local specialties. That generally takes me in smaller cafe/diners. They also are more casual and friendly, and you get a change to talk with people from other ways of life.

For ethnic foods, that means go to places where immigrants can afford to live, out in the far or run-down suburbs.

The food usually is much more flavorful than those closer in and - bonus - more reasonably priced.

My name is Zoeliculious.

I like British Food, Swedish food, and Italian food.

I like to make soup and I like to bake.

It’s Santa Lucia Day tomorrow so I am excited about that.

Welcome to Hungry Onion! Any special food(s) that you look forward to on St. Lucia day?

As you might expect, a lot of us have food traditions we look forward to on holidays.

I have made cuccia in the past.

I thought about making Lussekatter, but I decided against it as I’m avoiding eating sweets right now.

Maybe just a cardamom latte tomorrow.

Happy Santa Lucia Day to all the Lucies, Lucias, Swedes, and Sicilians, and anyone else celebrating.

My Swedish friend sent me this video today.

So ive been lurking a while but figured i need to engage more lol.

So I’m in San Diego and I am most passionate about fiber lol. Ive become fiber obsessed lately, beans all day. But a better answer would be the healing and community building power of food. It’s magic to me.

The first memory I thought of was having a Japanese family host a takoyaki party for me and my traveling companions. We were traveling with a friend who had lived in Japan for a couple years, a friend of hers from that time invited us all over to her parent’s house and they made us takoyaki and got us drunk lol. They made “American” takoyaki that was just the dough with a hotdog piece in it. They also made a pizza kind with mozzarella and pepperoni in the middle, as well as the traditional octopus kind with so many delicious garnishes. Like they went all out on the traditional takoyaki. Truly one of the coolest experiences of my life period, not just surrounding food.

My favorite music artists are Britney Spears and Iron Maiden. Because they are both amazing.
