Hello Everyone – I’m Dan – I’ll attempt to answer the introductory questions.

(1) I live in a small town in the Arizona Desert. Yes, it is a dry heat!!

(2) I want to learn to be a better cook and add some variety to the meals I prepare for me and my girlfriend. She isn’t allowed to cook in my kitchen any longer (Kitchen Fire).

(3) During a visit back East to see my father, he picked up some hot steamed Maryland Blue Crabs – we feasted!!

(4) In my youth, I (legally) BASE jumped the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia during “Bridge Day”.

Welcome! In my mind, I am filling in my own details about the kitchen fire.

Welcome Dan! I hope you’ll find plenty of inspiration and tips here on HO.

I have a nephew who lives in Arizona . . . he tells us 110 is hot, whether it’s dry or not :slightly_smiling_face:

I assume the fire wasn’t too bad since she’s still your girlfriend and your kitchen is apparently still intact.

What town? I endured 4 years in Scottsdale.

Not that bad… just a singed cabinet.

Thanks… the temperature has been dropping it’s going to be just below 100 next week, YEA!!
But yes, we suffered through the 110’s this year.
Yes, kitchen is intact and operational, (minor damage) just a singed cabinet.

Fountain Hills… It is a nice community.
My girlfriend and I are older and retired, so it is a nice fit.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I’m still learning the forum software, if I do something incorrect, please let me know.
You know the saying about “teaching an old dog, new tricks”.

I don’t know that I’d call Fountain Hills a small desert town.
I thought maybe Globe or something.
We left the desert for the green PNW in 1989.
Welcome!

I did live in Phoenix for a couple of years, so Fountain Hills feels smaller.

Ah! You’re out near Taliesen West and that big airplane graveyard! Good area.
Do you get back to the East often? We have a place in the Chesapeake and I’ve found a wealth of great, great crab houses and other seafood places in Southern MD.

I went back East, last year for a visit. My girlfriend and I got crab cakes at Timbuktu in Hanover, Md (near BWI airport) while we were there. YUMMY!!
In my youth, I occasionally helped out on my uncle’s oyster dredge on the Chesapeake Bay… Great memories of fresh oysters.
