[Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia] Meat-filled buns from Mon Chinese Beef Roti

Queued an hour for fried Chinese-Muslim beef-filled buns at the hyper-popular 3-month-old 𝗠𝗼𝗻 π—–π—΅π—Άπ—»π—²π˜€π—² 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 π—₯π—Όπ˜π—Ά in Bukit Bintang this morning.

The wait is okay as, 8 weeks ago, Singapore food blogger, Bruce Mathieu, came about the same time as I did (8.30am in the morning) and had to queue 1.5 hours for his rotis!

Love the beef-filled rotis: crisp golden-brown spiraled layer, enclosing lightly-flavored, faintly cumin-scented minced beef and scallion filling. The chefs all looked like Uighurs from Xinjiang.

Looks like the cousin of the β€œburger” I had at a Xian place in Manhattan a short while ago, though mine was not as brown (deep fried?)

Griddle-cooked … in loads of oil! Yes, they would be related to that Xian place.
