As I’ve been lately cooking over at numerous relatives places, I think it’s time I got some bag purposed to safely holding everything from an 18" honing rod to paring knife, thermometers, etc. It’s a real pain to pack those things safely into a box or what not.
For me, quality and durability are key issues. Also, I’m not even sure exactly how to name these things. I just know that pro chefs are expected to show up for work with their own kit. (Not that I’m a pro chef!)

Interesting about the storage issue. I use my gear all the time, so storage is probably not something that would affect me. I’d only use the thing for my increasingly frequent trips to family and friends for cooking.
The issue is that carbon steel will corrode in that environment, I assume (?).
