I think there’s a fine balance between how much more shoplifting the stores will tolerate if people are choosing not to scan some
Items vs the cost of paying the cashiers’ wages.
Some stores now have receipt checkers standing at the exits because of the increase in theft lately, due to both inflation and more self checkout opportunities, which is upsetting a lot of customers in Canada, especially in the situation where they feel they have been racially profiled by the receipt checkers.
Costco has always had receipt checkers at the doorways, but I guess it’s been part of the membership contract, and it’s expected. Costco in London, Ontario had removed its self-checkouts because of the theft by members about 10 years ago, which was apparently tens of thousands of dollars a month, but they brought them back a few years ago. I quit Costco around 2015.
Our Costco has brought back the self check stations and taken them away numerous times. I have a friend who supervises those self checks and she is very helpful and has that eagle eye out for shoplifting.
They got chicken samiches and fries. Enjoy. I like to try new disappointing FF, too. Had some surprises, though. Popeyes chicken sammy hit me right, Whataburger in TX was good. Other than those two, I’d rather bring my own food, or stop at a mom and pop: Greek, Mexican, Chinese, etc. place. You get to know some new folks when you eat at places like that.
I could go for those!
I read that the Nabisco chocolate wafer cookies are no longer available. Dang, gonna have to make my own.
What would we do without Oreos?
Hearts with the original Doritos, bean dip and Blitz Bavarian dark. Then the Risk board came out followed by Creature Features, SNL and Don Kirshner’s Fock concert at somebody’s place that had the color tv. Saturday night follies (unless there was a show at Winterland) followed by Sundays in the park or the library trying to study.
There was one where Kirk misplaced his hand on Uhura’s chest (which was funny at the time, but of course NOT acceptable humor now) and another had Tribble bashing. Oh, those days!
One of my favorite ‘suppers’ during my summers away was a basket of garlic bread and a Blitz, or two. It just mellowed out the end day, sometimes followed by a small, crispy green salad. Akin to the salsa and chips and margaritas my friends would have for their end of day meal.
