June 2022 Cookbook of the Month Announcement: Edward Lee Month

In June, we’ll cook together from Kentucky-based chef Edward Lee’s two books, SMOKE AND PICKLES and BUTTERMILK GRAFFITI. I’ll post a reporting thread on June 1, but in the meantime, please use this thread for general discussion about the books and their recipes.

And of course, please keep posting about your cooking from our May book, The New Midwestern Table, from our recent past COTMs, or from pre-March 2022 COTMs.


Wow, I just became aware of the pre-2022 COTM thread. Thanks for setting that up!


I’ve been a vegetarian for close to 4 years now, but remember making the little curried pork (I think- maybe they were beef?) pie things from Smoke and Pickles in like 2015. They were a little complex for me then, because I had just started really cooking, but I remember liking them. Just throwing it out there.
