Jack's Brewing Company closed in December 2025.

Wow I had no idea. I had called them in December asking about a growler of their pumpkin beer. I would get 2 or 3 a year during that season. They didn’t say anything about closing.

Was a favorite place of mine. Great food, and while a slight drop in beer quality, still very good.
I knew things weren’t good when they said a few months ago they were now closed on Tuesdays.

That seemed weird.

Also, their amber and porter stopped being year round beers.

There are a number of breweries nationwide but also in the Bay area closing - competition, tariffs, economic problems etc will most likely lead to more closures (but there are still also new breweries opening)

What are some of the other ones in the Bay Area that are closing?

Another reason I liked Jack’s was that it was good for sporting events. Watched SuperBowls in 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023 there. Had wanted to do it again this year.

I am fine with breweries without TVs, I go to those most of the time. But it’s nice to go to one with lots of TVs too, for certain sporting days.

Some other I remember - 21st Amendment, Olfactory Brewing, Sunset Reservoir, Barrel Head, Strike Brewing, Shaka Brewing,

Wow, had no idea. They weren’t a favorite of mine, but they were decent. I had been going to the San Leandro location the past few years.

Yes, Sunset Reservoir became Fifty Vara. I’ve been to the new Fifty Vara once, but don’t have an opinion yet.

Which of those haven’t closed yet, and what are their final dates?

All of these have closed already (and there were 2-3 smaller ones which closed very recently but can’t remember their names as I just saw it on Instagram)

Fifty Vara had pretty good beer (nothing you will rave about for weeks but also nothing you will pour into the plants when the bartender doesn’t look) on my one visit and the food was good

Thanks. I think we need some kind of sticky brewery closing and opening thread. Doesn’t have to have much actual beer talk, but just info of what’s happening with openings and closings would be good.

I did go to a Fieldwork loyalty members event last week. Never been to one before. I was a loyalty member just by ordering from their tap room one time. They had it at all locations, on the same day.

They gave free pizza for 1.5 hours. Cool event, and I supplemented it with a beer and appetizer.
