I am going to see a friend who “can have a little sugar” and loves desserts. Do you have any tried and true recipes to share? I would like to bake her something and am hoping for cookies or a bundt cake or something similarly easy to walk over to her. Thank you!
if the low in sugar is due to avoiding spiking sugar levels, it might be a better bet to go with something that also contains protein and fat, to temper the sugar spike.
honey is dense, 80% sugar, and that recipe has a cup and a third - not my definition of low sugar but I’m not in your group
@Jeepyland cookies like shortbread and biscotti tend to have less sugar than others and the advantage of cookies is you can make them small for easy portion control.
I used the “Sweet” version of the attached recipe. I used 1 cup of brown sugar (instead of 1.5 cups) and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. I got my apples from my neighbor’s tree (Dorsett Golden). They are a small apple, so I peeled and diced what I thought was enough (maybe 2 cups?? - hard to say) - I just eye balled what I thought was a good amount of diced apple. quick bread recipe
Sorry I can’t be more exact, a lot of my creations are a “play it by ear” thing and see what happens.
