Hi. Don’t get me wrong. Most of the noodle I like the most are really NOT instant noodle. Like Igarashi Seimen:

I wasn’t complaining that Kiki is not an instant noodle. Just stating that if we are ranking instant noodle, then should we or should we not include them.
Really? Many of the Japanese ramen I know around $2-3, which is still slightly cheaper than Kiki.

In term of Taiwan dry noodle packages, I guess my experience is that many are around $8-10 per 5-packs, like A-Sha or Zhen

Kiki noodles are closer to $15 where I live.

So Kiki noodles are 50-100% more expensive than other Taiwanese brands I am used to.

I’m amused that January is a time when many people make all kinds of food resolutions, including to reduce their consumption of ultra processed foods, and here we are talking about setting up an instant ramen taste-off. Only on Hungry Onion🤣

Those resolutions were made way back on Jan 1

Yes, and that is half a lifetime for a one-month old baby.

Thanks for the link! Nice short list. And some are less than a dollar each. Nice.
In a perfect world they would taste the same but have less sodium and more fiber but that is an impossible wish.
LOL!

add broccoli.

lol.

I have added broccoli to my veg rotation as a quick snack. I wash it, cut the crown in half and save half in the fridge. Then i nuke half til it is crisp but half cooked. Add a very light splash of vinaigrette or of Italian Salad Dressing and chow down.
I am no cook but it is a quick easy way to eat well in a hurry.
No ramen were injured in my broccoli snacking.

we top our cooked broccoli with a drizzle olive oil and fresh lemon juice, and a pinch of salt

Definitely a few things on that list I want to try!

Unfortunately, every time I bring home a pack of ramen, my wife has to read me the sodium content out loud, something I’m fully aware of because I know she’s going to read me the sodium content out loud. :scream:

One of my fam makes a noodle soup with a couple of packs of ramen as the base, but only uses half or one of the seasoning packs with a few bricks of noodles. It’s not the ramen the packet intended, but it’s a lot less salt and still really tasty (a pile of veg also goes in, and whatever protein is lying around).
