Forge Ice Cream Shop has opened inside/next to Forge Bake Shop on Somerville Ave. in Somerville. We tried it today and were pleased. The chocolate was dark and creamy. The strawberry was creamy. I would have liked a bit more berry in the strawberry, but I know that is a trade-off with losing some of the creamy texture. The hot fudge was delicious and of the old-fashioned turns chewy on cold ice cream type.
The owners used to work at Herrell’s several years ago, and are using the old Herrell’s slow-churning machine.
