@shrinkrap Linking a few recent threads below.
WIth 8 late summer / fall days, you may want to consider a day trip to wine country / eastern townships – its only a 45 min drive, pretty, and quaint. Not just wine either - cider, distilleries, more.
If you’re in an AirBNB, the markets will be fun to explore (even if you’re at a hotel, you can pick up snacks or a picnic) – Adonis, Atwater, etc.
I love the international food in Montreal, which is diverse and cheap, perhaps partly because of the student population.
Among my favorites are the dumpling places where you choose a few types and giant steamers show up with 10 per variety or so – my favorite closed down a few years ago, and I haven’t settled on a new one yet, and the Lebanese places with fold-over lahmacun and other flatbreads to go.
Also a favorite – shopping at Marche Adonis (since you will have an apt). Their hot food sect…
Some of the discussion on older threads like the one below may be of interest to you. There’s great international food available that’s not expensive (somewhat due to the many international students, in addition to the population itself). Outdoor seating may be trickier for those, though, but you could take out and find somewhere else to eat.
My favorites when I’m there are dumpling restaurants (among many other broad Asian options), Lebanese/middle eastern places with lahmacun and other flatbr…
Bonjour! Looking to take a week in august (14-20), first to Montreal and then to QC. Been to both before. Looking forward to seeing both of these great culinary cities.
For Montreal, have already booked Au Pied Du Cochon and Joe Beef, and thinking of adding L’Express, Wilensky’s and Breizh Cafe. I have been hearing some very poor reports about Joe Beef. Anyone know what is going on. Bad reviews seem to have started last fall. We loved Marche Jean talon and Atwater and look forward to returning.…
We are in Québec City just for the weekend. We were last here in the fall of 2019. This trip we are revisiting some of our previous favourites (La Buche, Chez Gaston, 1608) and trying out some new (to us) places.
Last night, we dined at Bleu Marine.

This place was started by two sommeliers, one of whom handles the kitchen and the other handles the beverages. There are only tasting menus, a 4-course ($79) and a 6-course ($95). Both offer the same amo…
Maybe you are in Montreal as a tourist and want to bring back local delicacies as gifts. Maybe you rented an apartment in the city and are wondering if there is anything special to cook with. Maybe you live in the suburbs and never quite took the time to explore all the nook and crannies of the big city?
This thread is meant to serve as a launching pad to explore what are Quebec products and where to buy them in Montreal. Its not meant to be a definitive guide since I cannot pretend to know eve…
