HUNGARIAN cooking

I cook quite a few Hungary dishes during the summer. Lots of cherry soup, some cucumber salads, lecsó, more recently Hungarian bread pudding.

I was looking at this recipe.

I don’t know about the mac and cheese but I can make a delicious chicken paprikash I’ve adjusted to my taste and my persnickety husband loves it. I have a spaetzle maker and have done homemade but I’ve found Bechtle spaetzle in the store has the taste and consistency of homemade.

I have a lot of green beans. I will be making one of these recipes.

I also will make this soon.

I use Bechtle spaetzle and egg noodles at home, too.

I also like some Hungarian brands of nokedli. The Magyar egg drops are good. They’re a bit eggier than German Spaetzle, and they’re much smaller.

Most of the German and Hungarian stores in southern Ontario have closed , but luckily, there are plenty of Polish stores that sell Hungarian and German imports.

Denningers , a German deli and bakery in Hamilton, Ontario, has an online shop, I didn’t notice that until today. I’m adding it for my own reference.

Good to know, for my next paprikash.
