How's the weather wherever you are?

Yaay, another winter weather advisory. 10cm of snow on the way, temps sub zero, ground is still frozen, yada yada yada… I feel like Bill Murray should show up on the doorstep any time now.

Freezing rain in southwestern Ontario right now.

Monsoon rain, gusty winds, hail. If March is going out like a lamb, it better get it’s woolly little ass in gear.

We (Ottawa) have an advisory of snow and freezing rain beginning Friday evening and ending Monday, but the area is not clearly defined, so I’m hoping it stays away from us! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

80° yesterday for the high and a clear breezy day, clear night and I was able to see the flyover. Today started with lots of stars at 4 am (a yowling cat outdoors, not ours woke me and the 17+# blackcat who was slumbering quietly as my belly warmer. By the time the roomate got in, the weather had changed to a bit of rain and some thunder, which was predicted. Mixed weather all day, much cooler. Our pussum does not like thunder or other loud noise. FPTSD, for sure. Snow is gone from the grass, lilacs are budding and chives are coming up.

Just to clarify I “liked” your post for the pics of the crocuses.

I wouldn’t wish for freezing rain for anyone. Stay safe!!

Thanks, Dan!

We are used to freezing rain up here. It’s not too big of a deal, apart from roads becoming slippery. Sounds worse than it is.

I respectfully disagree. When the roads are coated with ice so thick you can skate on it, cars are in the ditch everywhere, branches are ripped off trees and end up damaging property and blocking transport routes, and the ice is so thick it damages power lines causing blackouts, it’s a big deal. I’m just keeping fingers crossed this isn’t going to be as bad as forecast.

What I mean is that freezing rain sounds worse to a Texan than it sounds to someone who is used to Ontario weather.

I’m not making light of treacherous weather.

White-outs and fog are very scary for me. Ice storms are scary.

“Mixed”. 38°F and foggy this morning for the low 55°F for the high yesterday afternoon. Sprinkles, wind, clouds today, so far. “Lucy” (named after Lucille Ball) the Pileated woodpecker visited a few times today. She appears to be favoring one particular Lodgepole pine to debark.

Older picture, I’m not sure if this is Lucy or Conan. Males have a red streak at the mouth and I can’t tell with this picture.

Icy. The sound of trees clacking together, interspersed the the crack, whoosh and shatter of branches breaking off and smashing.

It’s been a lot of haze with wildfires here. Fortunately, none too close to our home yet. We really need rain and I think some is predicted tomorrow.

Hoping that rain comes your way. Thinking of you.

Oh no! Best wishes.

I don’t think of that area as a “wildfires in March” sort of place! Any theories about why ?

Lack of rain plus a lot of downed trees and brush from the hurricane :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

It looks like a war zone here. Trees down, power out. The sound of trees ripping apart and falling from freezing rain accretion kept us up all night. We had a branch fall on the roof, but luckily no damage. Running on a generator and hoping power is restored soon. This is a bad one.

I am sorry the weather was so brutal in your region. I am glad your roof was not damaged. That’s good luck. My friend’s roof was wrecked by a fallen tree branch near Mount Brydges 5 years ago, and WinMar screwed up when they fixed it. It took over 18 months to get right. What a nightmare.

It’s been rainy in southwestern Ontario all weekend. The temperature didn’t drop below 3 degrees C. Usually we get bad weather, worse than Toronto and the 905, but not this time.
