Hot Dogs!

To say nothing of the ‘hinged’ roll of a sub sandwich, or a cheesesteak or Italian Beef

There’s always this approach to nomenclature:

For me this is a faulty premise. - two dogs is the perfect amount.

For that price you can get 20 Costco hot dogs plus unlimited soda.

+1 Not even as a kid could I justify doing that to a good dog.

Picked up a couple of packs of these ($1.99!) but haven’t tried them yet.
As I’ve mentioned previously, our meat department manager at my local store is a hot dog enthusiast and I think he solicits sample packs and then puts the extras out in the budget bin.
We have a regular Feltman’s slot now even though we’re 3000 miles west.

Feltman’s! I found them once in a store that never had them again. They are fabulous. Thinking of biting the bullet and ordering them directly. No one else carries them around me.

Still love 'em with baked beans.
Upgraded to Berkshire Dogs though…

I’d be anxious to see how those turn out. “Brisket dogs” has a nice ring.

Wow. Chili for chili dogs that actually contains meat! ( and not protein/bean mystery concoction that’s sold in wee cans). So when I save a tiny bit of my beanless chili to top off hot dogs, I’m not alone anymore. Dang!

That looks interesting, albeit a bit mild. I do like chili dog chili to have meat but I also like it to taste a bit more like chili so I might split the first batch in two and follow the ratios of the recipe in one half and increase the chili powder and red pepper flakes ratio slightly in the second half.

Love a Costco hot dog. They have a quality bun too, which is kind of surprising since the price is still $1.50 (and includes a soda).

I think they have a photo of a Costco hot dog in the Universal Encyclopedia entry for “Loss Leader”.
I am just ball parking it here (LOL!) but what does the hot dog meal actually cost them? 20 cents (wholesale cost?) for the bun, a quarter for the dog, 20 cents for the condiments, 30 cents for the pop and cup? Labor is tough to calculate/apportion accurately but surely less than 50 cents per dog served?
Maybe they actually make a small profit on it?

And the sauerkraut!

I’m pretty sure you can still get sauerkraut, but you have to ask for it.
