Hot Dogs!

My lunch today was a Shopsy’s All Beef hot dog on a sesame WonderBread bun, with honey & French’s Classic Yellow Mustard.

How are the WonderBread buns? That is what I ordered last time but it was substituted with BallPark (yuck).

No Nathan’s hot dog eating contest today due to the horrible weather.

I thought I heard that Joey did triumph after a weather delay and the female champ did it again, too. Wow

Bring it back? Did sauerkraut ever leave?

Great joke about Polish sausage.

The little cups of sauerkraut did indeed disappear from our local Costco food courts around the time the polish dogs did. The chopped onions did too, but that was due to Covid I think. Have you been able to get either at yours? I haven’t had a hot dog there in quite some time.

When Costco did away with the $1.50 food court Polish instead of raising the price, we replaced most store visits with online ordering. We recently had to take a non-member to browse and so we sprang for lunch. The onion dispenser is in place, but we forgot to ask about kraut – still being miffed about no Polish.

I was in the hot dog line at Costco today and I saw little plastic tubs being handed out. Oh boy, sauerkraut! But no, they were the chopped onions. Still no kraut.

I looked at that and thought “Gotta be in Japan!” But was fairly gobsmacked by the Ikea connection

I actually like the hot dog being longer than the bun.

I don’t have a Costco. :dotted_line_face:

Love your Boston by the way. Cutie.

Me too. I’ve noticed most natural casing dogs do, whereas Oscar Mayer does not, unless you buy the longer dogs. I don’t like soft dogs, though.

These are Canadian Sesame WonderBread buns. They are okay. A little big for a regular size hot dog.

I like other commercial hot dog buns better. I like the D’Italiano buns

, brioche hot dog buns, and potato hot dog buns, as well as buns baked at the grocery store, better than these sesame WonderBread buns.

She’s a Frenchie.

Looks Bostonian. Sorry, cute Frenchie! My eyes were old when I was 8.

I always preferred the cheapest bun for a hot dog . The crappier the bettet . But I prefer my frankfurter with no bun . With sauerkraut and Mustard on a plate.

Dude, those aren’t hot dogs.

They’re like the evil bastard love child of Twizzlers and Slim Jims.

I think our dad called those ‘long franks’. That or one of the sibs named those that. Dad was big on franks. Must have been influenced by his father.

Yeah, I think “hot dog” is a misnomer here. Frankfurter that begs for kraut and mustard. Look dang tasty. Not a bun sausage. Too many time Americans automatically associate sausage with bun. I’ve never had a Polish on a bun. Then again what are often called Polish sausages befuddle me as to their real origins. I’ve eaten many Polish sausages and never had one taste like a Costco Polish.
