Grand Tavern OMG. Neptune City

Went last night place was full on a tues night. Burrata on toast appetizer outstanding. I ordered scallops which were fresh and cooked perfectly. Wife had hangar steak also perfect medium rare. No specials for dining just cocktails. Place has definitely kept up to standards …just a bit pricey for a “Tavern”
on a side note love the music in the background…mostly 80’s early 90’s alternative.

Same, we went Sunday night. I had the hanger steak as well. One of our party got the red snapper which was delicious.
Scallops and the burger rounded out the meals with the spaghetti app being the main for a couple of people.

Everyone loved it.

Drinks great as always, I had the Jack Talk Thai, great, and the Always Money in the Banana Stand.

It’s definitely pricey but well worth it.

I promise I’m not being snarky - just a question. If the place was called “Grand Kitchen” or something else, would that change your mindset?
As I recall, their space was, at one time, an old tavern and I think that’s why they named it the way they did.

It used to be The Sudsy Mug.

LOL…I was originally drawn to Grand Tavern because I heard ( not sure if factual) that the principals used to be with the Smith group. I did like Porta and Pascal and Sabine at the time (have’nt been to either in 5 years LOL)
That being said…Never had a bad meal …really enjoy the music …but yes
the space is nice and comfortable but far from “Grand” and yes I would still go if it was Grand Kitchen!!!

; )

Yep, we would go to Grand shortly after it opened and people would show up not realizing the Sudsy Mug had closed. They would go to the bar and order and beer only to find out it was no longer the Sudsy Mug
