My brother-in-law and I had an unexpectedly delectable lunch of Northern Indian style cuisine inside…..of all places!..Bayview Village, North York!
This unforeseen, relatively new, cozy, pleasant and refined Indian Curry House is located inside one of Toronto’s poshest fashion shopping malls. It offers interesting choices from a compact and fine-tuned Northern Indian focus menu. The food is served in a quiet and relaxing environment.
We had the following:
Samosa: Nice crispy and crunchy shell with generous, well judged spice level filling. Delightful.
Goan Prawn Curry: One of my favorite ‘not-overly spiced’ northern style seafood centric curry. Flavourful and balanced creamy sauce using large crunchy tiger prawns. Love their addition of some Okras.
Lamb Rogan Josh: Again, one of my favourite meat curries, dated back to my days living in London. This version was tasty and acceptable but falling just a touch short of the gorgeous version by ‘ Oh Bombay ‘ on Vogel & 16th Avenue, Richmond Hill.
Butter and Garlic Naan: This combo was a special request and the result was some nice crispy, chewy and super-aromatic and savory bread.
Regular saffron infused Pulao rice.
Overall, a rare ‘Indian cuisine find’ in North York! Enjoyable and pleasant dining experience featuring refined, less spicy, Northern Indian style cuisine. Worth keeping on my food journal.
Nice @THECHARLES I recall trying the tasting menu a while ago in person and enjoyed it. Unfortunately their delivery option was geared towards the Western palate so don’t enjoy it much
I’ve made Baath (coconut semolina cake) before, and it’s quite nice without being cloying. Had some last night made by a friend, as well as plum cake and rose cookies, which are lovely and crunchy.
Guava cheese was a favorite of my dad, and most people who encounter it, but is not my jam (or jelly, as the case may be ).

That’s quite a spread! Some images bring back memories from a long time ago.
