For Kaleo 😁

Waddaya think of this aluminum pan? No brand on the bottom, but it’s gotta be at least 6mm thick aluminum. 10" across. Looks cast.

I think it may be an original Pan Shop of Boston omelet pan, made from surplus WW2 torpedo noses. It made Julia Child swoon.

Regardless, it is likely the Patek Phillipe of omelet pans.

Provenance?

6 mm thick throughout or just the very edge? If it is 6 mm thick throughout , then it is not a light pan.

Provenance is unknown. It’s in one of the local flea markets. There are no markings at all that I could find on my quick twice-over of the pan. And the “helper handle” seems odd, since it would get too hot to grab without hand protection. Or maybe it’s for resting onto some feature of a stove? Or half of a latching mechanism for some sort of lid? :man_shrugging:

Throughout!

That is great. Did you buy it?

Just found this 5 mm thick frying pan.

Measure the floor. A lot of these pans’ rims are cut or molded on a bias, so they can appear thicker than they are.

Great find in any case. Season her up, use her only for eggs, and enjoy.

No, I didn’t. But it’s still at the shop today …

I think that’s probably the case here. Is it worth $10 just to try it out?

It would be worth $10 to me!
