Food news of interest in Austin

There comes a point when people (like me) just get fed up with skyrocketing prices and refuse to buy on principle. Case in point are Fritos and Cheetos. They’ve been hovering at $6 a bag for several months. Now due to more supply and less demand you can find them on sale for 2 for $6 or 3 for $7. These companies can try jacking the prices up all they want to, but when it doesn’t sell, in the end it all must go.

P.s. Dukes was on sale at Kroger a few weeks ago for $2.00.

“I recently saw Hellman’s for $7.99.”

The nerve!!

It has been on my bucket list to eat at an Automat ever since reading of Horn and Hardart back in the 50s or 60s. Hope this chain comes to Houston. :joy: :joy: :joy:

Yes, I’m serious.

As long as they are made to order. Dumplings sitting around waiting for a customer doesn’t sound great. I like the idea also though. Being an old movie buff, I recently rewatched That Touch of Mink where Doris Day gets an enormous amount of food in the automat while she converses with her friend behind the cubicles. Funny.

So I’m guessing you can’t get Dinty Moore Beef Stew in a microwavable cup? How about Wolf brand chili (without beans)?

Anytime there’s Indian food, I wanna go.
