I rarely eat the bread when I order a fish sandwich. Where I live, it’s almost always fresh, flaky cod with a light breading. I order that instead of fish & chips because it’s cheaper and I get the same fish. I can’t eat as much as I used to. If there is lettuce & tomato on the bun, I treat it as a side salad.
Whereabouts are you now, Chris?
John. I moved to Deal a couple of months ago. I never thought Mrs PB would leave London
( South London born and bred) but swapping a flat for a house with a garden, especially as she works permanently from home and I only need to go to the office two days a week was a no brainer.
Sounds like, what we in the states call, going country. My wife and I did the same 25 years ago with not one regret.
I generally prefer fish fry (fish and chips) over any sandwich. Fish doesn’t need bread. But the Culver’s walleye is one I can live with. We have a local place that sells the best two-fillet cod sandwich for $6.50. What I get when I’m close but on the go.
Lovely part of the world, mate. We’d often tack on a day or two round there to trips across the Channel
