Fish and chips in [Toronto] and [the GTA]

Yeah the reason for fresco visit is they have options on the type of fish (usually not the case at pubs ime) family friends are partial to halibut so we end up going to fresco.
I have been to man of Kent for a pint of teo during ossington crawls. Will try food one day as feedback is positive

Sea Witch on St Clair W near Christie offers halibut, pickerel, haddock and trout. I haven’t been yet. They have tables for dining in.

Thanks for sharing one of the friends family elders is in a wheelchair so proximity and accessibility is a major decider. Fresco is close enough to not even needing wheels transit. So we usually end up going in that area. Sea witch will be stretch to go plus I will probably need to go myself to confirm accessibility first.

Here’s my review of Sea Witch (from my original notes)
"Competent but expensive for ordinary fish "

I’d pay that dough for pickerel fish and chips. Sure would.

Pickerel is costing around $22/lb at my indie grocer, within a dollar of the price of cod and Faroe Islands salmon.

I have been frying it myself at home in LdnOnt lately. I would pay Sea Witch prices, as well.

When we had pickerel at Sea Witch, it was a bit too cooked.

I wish Chadwick’s would offer another fish option in addition to tilapia.

I decided to try this today, despite my aversion to tilapia, and it’s a very nice version of fish and chips, with a gluten free Peruvian-style breading rather than a batter.
