Nominations were scant. We had two that got two nominations each, so those are the ones we’ll vote on.
SHANNON MARTINEZ MONTH - This would include Smith & Daughters , Smith & DELI-cious , and Vegan with Bite . The first two books were co-written with Mo Wyse and are from their Spanish-influenced restaurant and their deli. I am late to the Eric Kim cooking because I only just got some Asian eggplants.
I made EK’s Gochujang Glazed Eggplants with fried scallions.
With kimchi fried rice from here , (not EK’s) minus the bacon and with scrambled eggs mixed in vs. fried eggs on top. Oh, made w/ brown rice
Very very good eggplant. Easy to make after the fiddly step of vertically slivering the scallions.
The fried rice was great too.
Two to TJ gochujang!

Nominations for April COTM are now open:
Time to get going with some nominations for April. April for me brings on a change in my cooking. My CSA starts up at the beginning of the month, so my cooking becomes driven by the produce in the box. I’ll be looking at asparagus, cabbage, lettuces, and of course strawberries. Spring strawberries are maybe a little less special now that local farms are growing berries all year long using day-neutral plants under hoops. But still… I think the seasonal berries taste better. Spring can be a tricky…
